RB25DET - PRP Hose Kit

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Started routine maintenance today and had to take the cover off to get to the spark plugs.

When removing the small pipe that goes from one of the top valves to the other it ripped as it already had a crack in it. You'll also notice the hose right beside it on the right hand side has a small crack too.

Forgive my lack of terminology here still learning.

I had already earmarked the hoses for replacement and found this kit: https://www.platinumracingproducts.com/products/nissan-rb25det-r32-r33-r34-heater-hose-kit

Does anyone know if this kit is worth the price tag to help upkeep the engine? Does it cover the essentials that get wear and tear?

I don't think that kit is what you want, as they list it as heater hoses, not vacuum / oil hoses.

The lines you're talking about are breather hoses.

It can be replaced with off the shelf hose from any automotive parts store. Keep in mind there's an orifice in that hose.

Cheers mate. I've found OEM will grab those

Just in case anyone finds this in the future, here's a diagram sent to me by Nissan to identify these hoses.

I ended up finding them through EFI Solutions though because Nissan reckons they need to order it from Japan, with a total cost of approx $110 inc. So it as cheaper with EFI anyway.

In case you haven't come across it, there's also https://nissan.epc-data.com/

Go by VIN or drill down into your specific model and year and it'll have references for pretty much all the OEM parts. In very similar diagrams. Linked against amayama as well for ordering. Though they can be a bit slow and can be better to search around to get the parts locally.

    • Sorry to sound thick....but what does the "faceplate" have to do with adjusting the odometer? Surely the odo stays put and you change the fascia. Surely they are not the same thing.
    • I know its been 13 years since this topic, but it came up when i was searching to fix my problem so thought i would add my 2cents in and how i fixed my issue.  my r33 had air coming out off all the vents except the center one. i went straight down the rabbit hole expecting it to be a mechanical issue, pulled the dash apart tracing lines, checking linkages etc. it turned out the very fine fly screen mesh behind the center vent was actually VERY blocked so when i had the air on face the air would take the path of least resistance and come out the 2 side vents but allow nothing out the center vent. a quick clean fixed the issue. once the mesh is clean you can see the air direction flaps moving inside through the mesh.
    • Glad that worked out for you. I think my Joyeauto one is coming this week but I won't get to install it til closer to end of October. Will update when I get around to it. Just standard CP and nothing else. Hopefully the cameras all work without needing to get out of CP and get back in as they advertised. My other worry is sound quality. Fingers crossed!
    • Yeah, it is possible. But like many related things (ie, alternators), it's getting harder to find anyone who does and will, given the change to just throwing shit away and replacing with new cheap shit from Chinese factories. If you want to pursue the option of rebuilding, you'll have to dig up an auto A/C specialist or three to find out whether they still do.
    • There are a few, but not that many. Also, there are no such rules when it comes to importing, just taxes and paperwork in general. The only rule I can think of is excise tax, which is 3.1% for cars with an engine under 2 liters and 18.6% over. About mods coming to the car, I've already bought Tein Flex Z coilovers and TE37s S Plus in diamond dark gunmetal (front 8.5" x 18" +35, rear 9.5" x 18" +22). Rims will be here in March. When the car arrives, I'll probably do a custom turboback and some exterior mods. I will keep you updated on my progress here! :)
