G'day all.

Honestly can't remember if I ever created one of these.

So, hi.

I'm luke, I used to post a lot.

On my second 32 gtr.

Hasnt run since I purchased it about 8 years ago, so typical skyline project.

Have done a lot of my own mods on my last car. Kind of miss it to be honest (the car).

Come say hi, I promise not to bite.

Welcome to a place where you just spend endless amounts of money to have a car that doesn't work, or barely works.

I come here now to live vicariously through others, well, I do spend too much money on my cars, but my cars are still working......typically...

Times haven't really changed alot though, the build cars, run the cars hard, then break the cars, rinse and repeat, has been going on from when I first joined SAU

Good times

You forgot that one guy who buys a car, swears he'll leave it stock, modifies it, and sells it 6 months later for a new stock daily...

Sounds like a fun guy

In other news, I'm picking up the MX5 from MX5 Mania tomorrow, yeap, another car that I said I was keeping stock,  but didn't

Weirdly, it is all set up for taking it to the track, which I said I wasn't going to do

Meh, I'll be living in Goulburn soon, so maybe that's a sign of my symptoms

Yes, I know, it's a sickness, a fun sickness, but a sickness none the less

I f**king told you to buy that built 2.5 one ready for the track from the get go that was 18K.

God damnit you people need to listen to me :D

Dose, the BMW M4 Competition the shittiest car ever.

BORING on the road at low and high speed.
BORING on the track relative to a truly fun track car.
EXPENSIVE AND PRETENTIOUS.

I also haven't driven my car since December, because it is in second paint jail after first paint jail. I find a way to have a car off the road for a year and it isn't even f**kin broken :D

Pfffft, I'm not *that* new.

I haven't spent endless amounts and my car STILL doesn't run!

But, thanks for having me.

Re-welcome! :D

"used to post a lot" ?

Bah. Only 4th on the 'Most Content' leaderboard

Thanks.

I once heard rumours that some of the top posters used counter multipliers to exaggerate their count.

Not sure if true or not.

And I used to post much more than I do now.

But, with all my shit posting, I made some great friends.

Including my best friend.

bro used to post a lot until he bought a vag.

like me

like PranK

like Dunc

my theory is that VAGs are Skyline Kryptonite.

It's just so comfortable!

Like, how hard would it be to install heated, ventilated and massage front seats in the gtr?

And a night vision camera?

And plush air suspension?

And proximity start and entry?

But seriously, stopped posting a lot when gtr stopped running. And then didn't really get back into it.

And the scene has changed a lot.

Then I moved rural where the car scene is prado's and 70 series.....

Yeah Wakie opened again last week.

And to correct the record...only Nissans in this house, other than one hilux paddock basher that I'd love to replace with an equally abused navara, and the tractor

    • Yep, pretty much what you said is a good summary. The aftermarket thing just attached to the rim, then has two lines out to valve stems, one to inner wheel, one to outer wheel. Some of the systems even start to air up as you head towards highway speed. IE, you're in the logging tracks, then as speeds increase it knows you're on tarmac and airs up so the driver doesn't even have to remember. I bet the ones that need driver intervention to air up end up seeing a lot more tyre wear from "forest pressures" in use on the highway!
    • Yes, but you need to do these type certifications for tuning parts. That is the absurd part here. Meaning tuning parts are very costly (generally speaking) as well as the technical test documentation for say a turbo swap with more power. It just makes modifying everything crazy expensive and complicated. That bracket has been lost in translation many years ago I assume, it was not there.
    • Hahaha, yeah.... not what you'd call a tamper-proof design.... but yes, with the truck setup, the lines are always connected, but typically they sit just inside the plane of the rear metal mudguards, so if you clear the guards you clear the lines as well. Not rogue 4WD tracks with tree branches and bushes everywhere, ready to hook-up an air hose. You can do it externally like a mod, but dedicated setups air-pressurize the undriven hubs, and on driven axles you can do the same thing, or pressurize the axles (lots of designs out there for this idea)... https://www.trtaustralia.com.au/traction-air-cti-system/  for example.... ..the trouble I've got here... wrt the bimmer ad... is the last bit...they don't want to show it spinning, do they.... give all the illusion that things are moving...but no...and what the hell tyre profile is that?...25??? ...far kernel, rims would be dead inside 10klms on most roads around here.... 😃
    • You're just describing how type certification works. Personally I would be shocked to discover that catalytic converter is not in the stock mounting position. Is there a bracket on the transfer case holding the catalytic converter and front pipe together? If so, it should be in stock position.
    • You talking about the ones in the photo above? I guess that could make sense. Fixed (but flexible) line from the point up above down to the hubcap thingo, with a rotating air seal thingo. Then fixed (but also still likely flexible) line from the "other side" of the transfer in the hub cap thingo up to the valve stem on the rim. A horrible cludge, but something that could be done. I'd bet on the Unimog version being fed through from the back, as part of the axle assembly, without the need for the vulnerable lines out to the sides. It's amazing what you can do when you have an idea that is not quite impossible. Nearly impossible, but not quite.
