Universal socket tool

I believe the idea being, the rods push back around the shape of whatever nut you put in there. Sounds pretty handy to just need to carry 1x socket in the car for 'most sizes'  but, theory vs reality, anyone tried them?

Donut tried them out, they were fine as long as the bolt or nut wasn’t very tight

Yeah. Will f**k a tight nut. Will possibly f**k a non-tight nut, if accidentally put on too off-centre.

Otherwise... I've always been tempted to buy one to see how good they are. Thing is....I have all the other sockets, spanners, etc. So, unless I was trying to build a 1 socket kit.... see little point.

I have one of these! It is absolutely useless. It provides not nearly enough force on the bolt, it just slips over anything that is not finger tight. And if it's finger tight, you can use your fingers.

LOL that sounds pretty conclusive! Yeah if it doesn't work on a tight nut, it doesn't work.

odd. I thought all the top race teams used them.
