R31 Rocket and SKY031 said they had cheap ones but commented that they were crap.

I would like to know how you came to the conclusion they were not suitable? If the cooler has a good stream of airflow and the trans fluid temp drops then you would think it is doing its job. What signs alerted you that it was an inferior product?

Besides that it probably didnt include a thermostat. Or is that the problem? That on short trips the trans fluid was too COLD?

My gearbox has hunting issues when it heats up.

The tranny fluid runs through the radiator, then through the cooler, but it's still sending too much heat into the gearbox.

The surface area on the cooler just isn't big enough.

It's OK on long trips when I'm not changing gears constantly and it's getting a good constant flow of cool fresh air, but for city driving, with the constant stop start and gearchanging, it just can't deal with it.

most tranny coolers don't do shit.. brand or otherwise.. a small radiator type core is just not going to cool down an auto box sufficiently to prevent the problems most people experience. Might save the life of the box a little bit above the factory kill point but otherwise.. just get a stronger auto..

If your gearbox has hunting issues it has nothing to go with the transcooler.

Wether it is a cheapy or a better brand the only difference is how much heat it will disippate. Even the cheapy will have a positive effect on cooling the oil, as long as it does not restrict the flow.
