Hey guys,

Im not really interested in brands so much as i am in the style of a seat. Probably something that is not discussed much in magazines and forums is the importance of goo support.

I think this is an integeral part of racing and drift so i would like to know what style of seat best suits it.

My cefiro already has this seat in it which as u can see is a fixed back, but also missing the arse pad.

Im either going to replace it with another one similar like this aerotech

or a recliner like this other aerotech...

Please post with reasons not just opinions as to whats best.

thanks guys.

For circuit fixed back seats with a 5 or 6 point harness is by far the best. Once you've tried it you will never consider a recliner again.

Basically you can strap yourslef in tight enough that you won't need to worry about your body moving around relative to the car, so all you have to do is keep you hands on the wheels and feet on the pedals.

With a normal reclining seat and 3 points belt you will always be trying to brace yourself against something, steering wheel centre console, door etc etc

thanks for that duncan... i guess i'll keep the fixed back and just get it repaired...

don't forget the 4 or 5 point seatbelts, they are what make the real difference. For convenience in a street/strip car, you can get ringbolts that replace your normal seatbelt retaining bolts, and race belts that clip onto the rings, so you don't need to replace your 3 pointer . On race days just clip on the belts and push the 3 pointer out of the way. Of course you need to add 2 ringbolts for the rear of the 4 points and one on the floor if a 5 point

where can these ringbolts be bought from?

You can buy them from any fastener place...although most of the times when you buy your harnesses you will get the required sizes with them. My Sparco (Sabelt) came with all the eye bolts...just ber sure you get the correct grade, diam o-let and thread diam and you'll be right.

I agree with the others, especially if you have a 4 door, go fixed back, though i found Velo to be the best brand/quality/price...many of the other seats are tubular frames instead of fibreglass, i found it makes a difference as far as comfort goes

hehehe thanks guys... the seat seems to be fine.. it had the arse pad but the cover is just missing so i just need it recovered which is easy enough.

ur right though the seat is MUCH better than the cheapie tube frame one in my skyline... i just cant quite fit properly with a helmet on which is a pain in the arse... and the rear bar of the roll cage hits the helmet :P

i will get a harness for sure...
