neil_se
I had my first drag day today and while i was happy with my times they could definately use some polishing up. Did 27 runs (1 run off having the all-time Willowbank record of runs in a day ) and track temp got up above 40 degrees around 1pm which didn't help. I did a lot of 2.3-2.4 60 footers which need improvement but still didn't do terrific times with 2.0 60ft. MPH were consistently around 113-114 but times were around mid 13s. My best run is below 60ft: 1.999 330ft: 5.614 660ft: 8.533 MPH: 84.43 1000ft: 11.032 ET: 13.077 MPH: 113.38 Best MPH was 114.56 but only ran 13.663 with a 2.479 60ft. Setup was: 15psi boost 245/45/16 Falken FK451s @ 22-24psi Pineapples Lowered springs with standard shocks(?) Aside from practice, where can i improve? PTR33
Weight reduction could get you that 12... even just as little as getting rid of spare and jack, sub box, not running with a full tank of gas etc. No need to take to the poor car with tools and do things like rear seat, carpet, sound deadener etc. I know how frustrating that .077 is. I ran a 14.077 with full tank of gas (that is a 50kg weight penalty in a R33) and 10kg sub in the back seat. Could have been a "13" with a little more planning. Other than that... MORE BOOST! sorry, just had to be the first to say that. neil_se
Car didn't have spare, jack or excess rubbish. Did have almost a full tank at the start of the day and ended up with half a tank as i wasn't sure how much i'd use, but now i know for the future. More boost is definately on the cards as soon as i get another adjustable fuel pressure regulator (and pay off my $350 speeding fine from the trip up). MrBlonde
Tyre pressures and tyres themselves usually make a huge difference. Then experiment with launch RPMs. Keep a note of your 60' times as you try different variations. You will settle on a tyre pressure/launch RPM that gets you the best short time. Your best launch is highest RPMs with almost not wheelspin (10% slip is optimum for a hard launch).
