i am thinking of painting the interior panels and dash instead of the standard black and grey

has anyone attempted this before with great results? please post pics of your work...i am thinking of also changing the speedo and rpm gauges and the lights behind them...

can anyone give some hints and tips and also suggestions? possibly some pics of past work is really what i am after....

Hey man,

I resprayed the entire interior in my old pulsar... I have pics i can email you if you like but I havn't hosted them anywhere...

Best thing is to get a can of plastc primer when you're doing it... take your time, make sure everything is cleaned properly before painting, maybee even a light sand to rough them up a bit?...

hay i have my r33 dune in vibrant blue and it looks great get loads of complements and it makes my car interior just look great.

not bad, i have already painted some of the vents and they are looking damn good and nice..

clean and not overly "rice"

but i am thinking of painting the entire dash surround,

pro: nice and damn striking

con: easily scratched...any suggestions to counter that problem?

I'm about to do mine as well probaly on sunday.

I figure if you use a good amount of clear gloss that should help look after it a little

tell me what happends when u use gloss coating...

will it make the paint look not as nice? and will it prevent scratches? or just the same will come off easily as well...

Hey guys.

Have finaly finished the panels. and OMG they look awsome! Very very happy with the results. But it did take me 2 days to do it though.

Yesterday - Removed all of the dash - console etc etc (also rewired my stereo and installed boost guage into driver side air vent)

Spent about 3 hours yesterday sanding back the panels. Be sure to use a FINE grade sandpaper. Rough stuff just rips it appart and gives a really bad finish.

Then sprayed with plastic primer. Left that for 30/40 mins to dry... Then did that again 3 times. After that First up was a light coat of my blue. gave that an hour to dry.. then did that again 3 times. Gave it away for the night to let the paint realy set well.

Got up early today and sprayed on the Gloss. Gave it a real shine. Did the same as before 3 times with an hour between each coat. Left it till later on in the afternoon and put it back together. I will post up some pic's tomorow

Over all VERY happy with the result.

i used 2 pac paint(what your car is painted in.)

i got it from a pannel beater, but you can get it from like automotive paint places.

there is 3 layers of paint, then 3 layers of clear coat on top.

Im halfway through covering all that crap furry stuff that peels off on series one's .

I went to the local fibreglass shop (that sells all the stuff to surfies) and bought a roll of REAL carbon fibre matt and have covered the main centre console and the B pillars.

It looks better if you spray it in two pack clear afterwards ; as the epoxy resin you have to use can polish up dull.

Hey guys im still waiting on my R32 I just bought, I was just wondering if it is easy to take the interior plastics off the dash because I am planning to respray them. If any of you's know how to could you please let me know?

What you want to do is... First sand it down with some rough/heavy grade sandpaper. that remove all of the coating and crap that nissan put on it. Next get some very fine grade sandpaper and rub it all over very evenly to try and smooth it all out.

After that spray it with a few coats of Primer (about 3 or 4) First layer will fill the scratches up. 2nd will coat it. 3rd and 4th will finish it off. Let that dry over night. Then spray it with the colour of choise. Same process again a few coats letting each one dry before you do the next. Once that it all done and dry hit it with the Gloss. Again a few layers to really build it up. Once done you should not have any troubles with it scratching (unless you really get stuck into it) and it will look sweet

I have never ... EVER... EVER seen a good interior spray job... EVER... till this pic.

Is that your car kryz? If so did you do it yourself? If so .. what colour did you use/what brand/product? Id like to know the specifics to check it out.

If it looks good I might find a crappy dash from the wreckers and practice on that, see how it goes then do mine. Cos yeah that looks nice.

take your parts to any panel beater and get em to paint it in 2K

it will come out almost perfect

If you want a really nice finish on sprayin your interior plastics a different colour, give this a go!

I did mine a mth back or so in silver, looks professional & hot as!

I used TAMIYA hobby Remote Control Paint, excellent colours & the spray of the paint comes out beautiful, no drips, patches or anything!~

*1 - Choose the colour you wish to spray your interior with from the Tamiya Spray Colour RANGE, THEN GET A CAN OF clear glOSS.....spray the plastic 3-4 times, every half hr....then hit it with the clear gloss 3-4 times, the next day, let it all dry, & it comes up like a 2 pac spray job! it looks great!
