Larger Intercooler

Looking at getting larger intercooler for my r33 gtst. I am told it makes a considerable difference. Can any one let me know if they have done it and how much difference it makes? Turbo specialist down my way says to put a proper r33 larger intercooler in it costing fitted around $1500. Does this sound right?are there other brands that will fit and may be better? Can you get them 2nd hand or would you be better with a new one? Any idea with the standard one would be worth anything 2nd hand?

if u have a budget for around $1500 go to www.nengun.com and get sent over the HKS Type R cooler, its 600mm x 300mm x 100mm...i got a Hybrid cooler for 1100 off a group buy on the forums which is pretty good, on the dyno got extra 23rwkw and allows to put the boost up bit more and cooler intake temps...

Yeah I purchased a blitz 'cooler (600 / 300 / 75 for 1700AUD a few months ago - it was easy to fit and throttle response increased quite a bit. Dynoed 175rwkw @ 5800 on dyno dynamics but couldn't rev out due to bad fuel pump (pinging)

I think you could get one cheaper than that - I just didn't have the time to look. Had to trim the front bar a fair bit though

yes for 1500 you could get a nice cooler from nengun. i got the a greedy vspl (600x276x76)and the cooler was actually only about 900 with a couple hundred for shipping. only bad thing was everything was in japanese... check www.nengun.com out and see what u like.

i dont think you would need to go any thicker than 76mm as well...

I agree - unless you're after big hp I doubt you'need over 75 mm. Then again bigger is better - 'spose budgeting is the big thing
