Nearly 2 years ago Nathan was introduced to the fun of turbo cars, while not knowing they existed in the past year he traded in his Holden Ute for a silver R33 Skyline, it was fairly stock but he was lucky to pick it up with a HKS BOV, 3" cat back exhaust system, Gewalt evolution 3 Piece racing rims, GTR body kit and blitz sus pod filter.

First replacing the font & rear bar with a veilside products.

Going to macca's one night on Thursday and meet a guy called *stick* - owner of (Prospool Technologies) who introduced him to the world of modifying his skybeast. Starting off with a turbosmart boost controller boost was set to 10psi, only getting addicted to boost more, he then proceeded to Townsville drag strip which is 4hr's away from were we live (Cairns) Running a 14.1 @ 103mph as his best time of the night and first time down the strip he soon found out his clutch need replacing.

After the slow drive back to cairns modifications proceeded to installing a front mount intercooler, 3"dump pipe, Extreme 5 puck clutch and boost raised to 13psi.

Not long after that it was taken to the dyno and it made 184rwkw's

Back in cairns Nat set out to install a avc-r which was also the last night of his R33 Engine. While doing some testing at 12psi, the car was on full boost at 2,000 all the way to 7,000 after getting heat soaked, piston number 6 had

melted and all the ring lands went as well. Pulling up to the lights to only see a mountain of white smoke float past the windows, and hear the car blurping and, making the sounds of a dropped cylinder. It was soon to know that he need a rebuild.

Ordering parts from Stick and from Japan. The long wait paid off with the car finally running.

The car runs great and we havent had any problems. We are still running the engine in so we carnt get it tuned yet. But once the run in is complete we are expecting around 400+ hp at the wheels.

5 simple steps on how not to blow up your "stock" RB25DET engine !

Step 1: Buy bigger fuel pump

Step 2: Have a front mount intercooler before boosting your car above standard boost pressure

Step 3: Keep boost to a minimum (9 - 12psi)

Step 4: Don't Flog your car for long periods of time on high boost & hot days.

Step 5: If you wish to further modify your car, purchase a tunable ecu, or do your engine internals.

Happy Modding :D
