I was just about ready to drop a front mount cooler in my GTS-t and get a new turbo because my current turbo is stuffed but that is another story ...

Yesterday I was crusin down the Frankston Freeway for about five minutes when I noticed some smoke coming from the engine bay!!! Of course that is never good so I pulled over to see what had shit itself. Anyway, oil was everywhere and the dipstick had shot out of the engine :D I checked the oil level and proceeded to limp the car home. I made it home however the cars not running so well as you would expect. Naturally I have not driven it again and will be taking it to the guys I imported it off on Monday.

Anyway, the car vibrates a lot now and the exhaust is making an inconsistent idling sound so I am assuming the engine is wasted ;( Ahh well I do not know much about this stuff so I will let the pro’s take care of it. I was just wondering if anyone has seen this happen before ... and how much I can expect to be up for?

Thanx

- Steve

hey,

if its your engine (which is possible as compression is getting into your sump) then your looking at around 2k for an engine and 1k in labour.

Did it ping or anything before it happened? Whats it like to drive now, any smoke etc, has it popped the dipstick again?

Dave

p.s - you can buy cheap compression testers from super cheap and similar places. If you know how to remove spark plugs, you shouldnt have a problem doing a basic compression test your self.

well if you do go a new engine i'd get the RB25DET Neo (the R34 gtst engine) port and polish and forgies.

a 2nd hand RB25DET goes for around 3-3.5k with computer and gear box. the Neo is about 1k more. for the internal work and frged pistons look bugget on 3k min (Killer-T) had the work done and i can't recall exactly what he said he paided.
