Just a quick question.

What does everyone think about Continental tyres.

I need tyres and im thinking of getting some.

:D  :burnout:

you might want to try the tyres forum, they are discussed there and seem to get a good mention from SkylineGeoff. Hankook Ventus K104 are also rated well for the price in another thread.

Well another shameless free plug for Ed, he has a tyre guy in Bathurst who brings him tyres every Tuesday. I got something off him called Maxus (I think?) which ive since been told are a rebadged Yokohama tyre. I was a bit sketchy at first, but have them on my car now, and am *VERY* impressed. In the wet if I used to accelerate hard, my rear wheels would start spinning (even when the front started pjulling) and wouldnt go anywhere. With these ones she just took off in the wet (and I also scared the shit out of my passanger :().

They were $300 for 255/40/17's and yeah, very impressed.

i'd say $300 each Andrew.

However, if they are $300 for all four, put me down 5 sets :(

SkyGTRline, i'd recommend you drive up to sydney to buy tyres, the money you'd spend on petrol would be much less than the money you save on buying and fitting them up there. or at the least, have them sent from sydney and installed down here.

the price some places in canberra charge for tyres is daylight robbery.

yea.. thanx guys...

Im just after second hand ones, Im planning on getting rims soon, so i dont really want to spend heaps on new ones..

When i bought the car the guys put second hand ones on the rear (Continentals) there was heaps of tyre, and they were bloody awsome... so i wouldnt mind getting some just for now.

The guys said like $100 each. so cheap, but just for now

Couldn't agree more, I went to St George tyre service and saved about $400/4 tyres compared to what I could get here. A word of warning though, other distributors hate places like them and Tempe etc, if you have a problem like I did - one tyre out of round - local distributors won't touch you as they maintain these tyres are parallel imports etc. It's still worth it in my opinion, just exercise some caution.

firstly what are continental tyres?

Continental are a Euro brand, they are quite widely used over there and can be found on some top-end models. They also make motorbike tyres.

Not to be confused with Continental Cup a Soup. Then again if you smell chicken noodle after a burn out...
