GTR32
thanks heaps guys i have looked at the rb30 conversion thread and have decided to put the rb26dett in simply because its to much stuff around finding and altering far to many parts wich leads me to these questions is the rb26dett a strait fit to the gear boxes in a gts-t what about the wireing to the speedo and revs from the rb26dett ecu and what about the engine mounts arnt they diffrent is there some adapters for this application. lots of questions i know but im sure you guys can make me think of lots more with your replys XR8eater; I agree with what Sydneykid and GTR Ben said; I'd suggest they are right on the money. And if you are up for it by all means tackle the RB35/26/30 conversion; however, make sure you understand what it will/won't give you. It all gets down to the usual question of 'what do you want to do with it'. And if you are up for it by all means tackle the RB25/26/30 conversion, it's been done successfully before and if you can do the research and harness some experience go for it; however, make sure you understand what it will/won't give you. It all gets down to the usual question of 'what do you want to do with it'. There is a good thread on here re GTR vs GTST 'which is faster for the money you spend on mods' but I think it primarily discusses R32s. Nevertheless it's thought provoking and worth a read. If I'm not mistaken, Sydneykid uses an RB31 DET in an R32 GTST as his weapon of choice on the track. I think that tells us something. ' Just my 2c worth. I had to change the tacho in my car as I went from 4 to 6 XR8Eater. The RB26 is an animal Best to do the turbos to a non ceramic at the same time though.. Guest MFX_R33
I have heard you also need to fit an RB25 sump to the RB26 so it will fit. Depending on how much you can get the RB26 for, as they still tend to be very expensive and some of them for sale are getting very tired (15 years of thrashing). You may well be better off spending the same money on the RB25. Jeff. Dahtone Racing
you can either put the RB25 sump on and modify the oil pick up od weld up the RB26 one. GTR-Ben
Very simple mod to the sump is needed to fit the pickup. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/49975-rb-heart-transplant/page/2/#findComment-999683 Share on other sites
xr8eater
i have an rb25det sump can i use the pickup out of the rb26dett for this mod and to mfx-r33 it would be a fifteen year old engine but i would install new rings, head gasket bearings if stuffed and take a good look at the turbos or exchange them for refurbed ones Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/49975-rb-heart-transplant/page/2/#findComment-1000023 Share on other sites
GTR-Ben
Yep should be fine. I would recommend doing a fresh rebuild on an engine if you don't know it's history.. and want to run it at a higher power level than stock. Run non ceramic turbo's also.. one blown ceramic turbo can eat a GTR engine!
