How much is this gonna cost me?

Ok i got all my shit together time to get it all installed!

This is what i wanna get done!

* Full service, mayb new spark plugs and regap if necessary, including change diff oil and transmission oil

*Install my apexi boost gauge with the a-pillar gauge holder

*Install my 2 stage boost controller and dyno time to set low to 8psi and high to 14psi.

I was thinking about getting Amberly Auto's or Ice Performance to do the work!

How much should i expect to pay to have all this done??

Jon,

Its bloody easy mate!

Sounds good, I've got a bloody great hole in my dash just waitin' for that gauge and the T/T and EBC which will be relocated from the ashtray hole.

Oh, and does anyone know if the dash ashtray in a '93 skyline is the same as an AUS model so i can just buy a replacement here?

Can't wait for that gauge, I have NO idea what boost I'm running and keep waiting for a PLIIINGGG BAAANNG KLANNGG to go n pick bits of ceramic exhaust wheel out the zorst.

thanks

Please excuse my ignorance but the stock boost gauge is not much help to me as I don't know what it's telling me.

Is it in BAR or PSI or what?

At full pedal the stock gauge is pretty much maxed out, what psi would the "+7" on the stock gauge be? 7psi or 0.7bar?

Also, anyone know the convertion calculation between psi and bar?

+7 on it means about 1 bar boost which = 14psi! ( i wouldnt want to push it anymore than that mate)[/quote:40a1fe1453]

Yikes! 8O +7 = 14psi, i'm turning that baby down a tad i think.

your car must have a pheumatic adjustable valve in the boost line.[/quote:40a1fe1453]

ummm i have a Greddy Prodelic B electronic boost controller thingie (technical term) which I'm assuming would explain the pheumatic adjustable valve in the boost line. Yes?

are you sure +7 is 14PSI? my mates pulsar ET has a boost gauge from the factory - its measured in inches of mercury In/Hg is that what the R33 boost gauge has? or is it Kpa ? i know that +5 In/Hg = ~7psi so +7 would be roughly 9psi right?

and if it reads Kpa it'd be 0.7 Bar or ~10psi

all the nissan standard boost gauges ive seen have been in In/Hg, but granted that is only two cars. the Pulsar ET and the japan only R31 GTS-X

reguarding getting your work done - that is all work that you can do yourself basically. i mean changing engine oil, gearbox oil. and coolant isnt that hard and brake pads arent either. the only thing they would do during a service that might not be easy for someone terribly mechanically minded would be the timing - but put it this way - the less they have to do - the less you pay for :) . as for the boost gauge - if you have a pillar pod thingo then that makes installing it a breeze - you say your a bit worried about the EL lighting, well did the guage come with instructions? if so again no hassles - if not then maybe check out apexi's web page for intsructiions. i know i had probs with my HKS turbo timer till i found a wiring diagram off the net which sorted it all out for me :) . i just find that doing this sort of thing yourself helps you enjoy your car a bit more :) but if your willing to pay to get someone to do it then thats cool just know its not terribly hard to do

Guys,

Sorry to hijack this thread but, after having a closer look at my stock boost gauge tonight it doesn't actually reach the +7 line so I think I'm ok on my current setup.

The gauge legend is x100 mm/Hg so the +7 = 700mm/Hg which equates to approx. 13.5psi.

Any one know how accurate the stock gauge is? Can I be sure that if I don't hit the +7 line that I'm definitely under 13.5psi?

Also, how much boost can a high-flowed stock turbo handle considering that it will still have the ceramic housing but a more robust steel exhaust wheel?

    • Good points thanks. Unfortunately I can't seem to rename this or delete the topic. Seems like I'll ask the moderators to change it or delete it.
    • You might want to update the thread title.  V37 ≠ V36.  And it probably isn't a G37 unless it is 2012+ Ininiti or LHD.
    • Just a basic run down of the relevant bolt-ons. All e85 First graph 406.9whp is HKS GT-RS, HPI manifold, 3" bell mouth dump / 3" straight through fake cat / 3" all the way to the rear and no resonators, nismo 740cc, walbro 460, oem RB26 itb's, power fc, eboost2, Greddy Spec M fmic, poncams, Turbosmart actuator, splitfires, ARD 150amp alternator. Blue line is same as above but Blitz Dual SBC (before i upgraded to eboost2) and 100cell "high flow" cat. Red line is after installing eboost2 and the fake 3" cat (it's just a 3" pipe with a cat shell welded onto it). Huge gains in response, as can be seen. Black dots are a mates sr20 with almost identical setup but uses a garrett 2871 instead oh HKS. Next grapghn 466.6whp is same as above, but HKS 2835 Pro S with the larger .87ar turbine housing, the special HKS Pro S dump pipe into a HPI split dual 2.5" front pipe and the rest stayed as is. Red line is after I welded the actuator brackets. (It was originally bolted together and was moving a couple millimetres under load). Green line is obviously before I welded the bracket, no other changes. 100whp gain at 3750rpm, massive gain for such a simple fix. Third graph is my current setup, huge changes. 469.7whp R31house twin scroll manifold, twin TiAl 38mm gates, Forced Performance (USA) HTA3076 with 1.01ar twin scroll rear housing, Link Fury+ and loom by 12volt, PRP trigger kit and r35 coil kit with r35 splitfire coils, HKS step 1 vct staggered cams, new oem lifters and performance springs, 49mm itb's w/port matched Nismo plenum, twin walbro 460 surge tank setup + 1650cc injectors, HKS Type R S13 600x300x103mm fmic, individual egt's, 4" turbo back with no resonators or cat and AES true straight through muffler + 4" butterfly off the dump pipe lower 90° bend. It's a preliminary tune with no boost control with using 20psi gate springs and 4" butterfly closed. Once body loom and PDM is compete, will go for 30psi tune.
    • Power light apparently functions as a transmission error light, you can try the power sequence to read any codes from the transmission control unit.
