RTFGTR
I would also like to jump in on this thread (sorry NismoR32R) as I will be making my choice very soon between Racepace and ICE. My car should have landed TODAY in Brissy and will have it back from compliance and so on in about two two and a half weeks I hope. I have had a chat to Ben over the phone, he was honest... maybee too honest about the condition of my GTR and kind'a scared me. I only want a TUNE, the figures that were flung around could have almost got me a reco RB26DETT engine! I have not yet got in contact with ICE and would like to get some idea (besides his the best.. trust me) responses. I know that they are (the best) and take everyones word for it... now like NISMOR32 would like to get the concensis on how they run their respective business's and service levels that can be expected for the HUGE ammounts of money that is very likely to be changing hands. Laurence
Always difficult, all workshops have their groupies, especially rotor workshops. As with any relationship, communication is the key. Make sure to state exactly what you expect to be done. If they don't want to listen, then go to someone who will. Empty reassurances of "we know what we are doing we do eight second eleventy billion dollar cars" only serve to highlight the contempt with which they will view someone's $50k "shitter" Apart from a very short conversation with one of these workshops I have had no contact with them, so my comments are more general caveats Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/50038-ice-vs-racepace/#findComment-995772 Share on other sites

Mick Trainer
Depends on what you arelooking for at the time. Gerald and co are cheaper so if itis a simply job then they are good value. If however the job is a complex one Ben is "The Man" in GTR's so I feel he is worth the extra bucks at this time. Mick. West
If you spend BIG BUCKS, then any work shop will look after you really well, that's how i see it. About profesinalism? You heard about Ice/Racepace good reputation but did you hear about their down side? So best to come in and speak to both and see for yourself. R31Nismoid
nothing wrong with either workshop. Anyone that says otherwise is talking shit. My car is currently @ Racepace for a whole motor rebuild and a dozen other things. Cant complain one iota about service or anything. Same goes for ICE, so many vic skyline owners have been to see them its ridiculous. Basically, choose one of the workshops that fits what your looking for. You'll only get that by going down in person and not listening to those who talk shit on forums. End of the day, its ICE or Racepace and no-one else. DoughBoy
Nizpro! They know their stuff, and they know how to charge. But they have been one of the leading Nissan workshops for a very very long time, and are still in business. There's probably not much they haven't seen with GT-R's. Downside is they know this, and they charge for their expertise. But do you want to do things twice? Emre
Nizpro is around the corner from RacePace. Ben and Simon are on very good terms and help each other quite often. To recommend one over another would be a personal preference. Not many would've dealt with both, as if you go to either, you are to end up happy and stick with him. In my case, Ben is the man. Similar scenario with Ice and RacePace. I personally use both workshops. Gerald and Nige are on very good terms with Ben and help each other quite often. Ben may be the person to build your motor, Nige and Gerald may be the persons for your clutch, timing belt change, or SAFC fit and tune. It is not to say ICE can't build an engine, as Nige built his Supra motor by himself; they prefer not to as it's a time consuming job. If you are planning on getting some work done, ring them both and take it from there. Nismo32R
well....i have problem with coil packs.... the car runs good at 1.1bar, but once it hit 1.3bar or above....the engine start to miss firing......so i want to see whether i need to replace the standard coil packs to splite fire or just the matter of re gap plug Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/50038-ice-vs-racepace/#findComment-996563 Share on other sites
Emre
What are the condition of your plugs...? What are they gapped at...? What turbos do you have to run 1.3+ bar...? If upgraded, do you have adequate fuelling to suit...? What are the condition of your AFMs...? It may be the plugs, or a coil or two, or the ignitor box, or something else all together. If you want it fixed once and for all, go to your preferred workshop and get it looked at. If you want to fark around, ask the question on the net, get 10 different answers than try and address them all, till one works.
