Queensland SAU members club suggestion box

Erin, Ben, and anyone else who is concerned about non-attendance

So that we can move on from what will no doubt otherwise become a long-term sore point, maybe a little explanation is in order. In the last six months I have lost my job, and in the process of trying to set up a business, have been running at a massive loss. Sparing the cash to attend a cruise was the least of my worries, and yes, even five bucks was well outside budget. If you had a choice between going on a cruise, or making a token payment to stop your phone (a lifeline in a mobile business) being cut off, which would you choose? THAT is why I personally haven't attended an event in a while. Now that I've been forced to discuss private matters, can we please move on?

I'm not complaining or disagreeing with people (quite the opposite in fact), I just wanted to clear that up.

this is all pointless from whatever side. Like Ska is saying, lets move on and think of some positive things
I could not agree more, and all this bickering does detract somewhat from the good things that have happened. Go and have some input into my cruise thread :)

IIRC this thread was set up so people could make suggestions and voice their concerns. Not for people to make personal attacks at others.

I believe a lot of the expressed concerns should be taken on board by the executive now that the club is exactly that, a club.

None of what was said was intended to start a shit fight. It was simply things that people had been considering for a while and a thread like this, I believe, was needed.

Maybe instead of all this being voiced by text, a meeting should be set up so that things can be resolved and other things discussed in a more civilised manner?

I agree - although it did get nasty for a little bit, this thread has been valuable in airing concerns. If people feel that there are unresolved issues that require a formal meeting, say so now and we'll organise a time and place.

On a side note, I have a draft FAQ up now, it's up HERE. I haven't consulted the other guys yet so my name is the only one listed in full, and I didn't have the PO Box info handy either so it's left blank until I speak to the others. If there are any other comments/suggestions on content, email sauqld at optushome.com.au.

ok another Q & a Answer is needed from every one........

Has any one though of may be having some one that can make the club meets become a "CLUB LIAISON OFFICER", might just be what we need to get around this issue

Marc sorry that it had to come to that mate thats your personal life out side the club :)

Good luck with the business venture & hope you come out on top

I could rant for pages and pages here... :hellpisd: But I'm gunna try and hold back... :D

Slip: Take everyones comments / suggestions however you like...

Revhead: Your doing a great job! Your showing real interest in your members current concerns and wants / needs... Thank You... The FAQ looks good... I'd love to see it evolve over time to include other info such as current members, upcoming events, action items, etc... Although the forum could most definately be used for all of these things...

Gary: Hellooooo? Gary? j/k :D

The Club Exec as a whole: Thanks for ALL the efforts you have gone to over the past few years to get this club up and running... It is greatly appreciated... :)

Everyone: Keep the positive thoughts and ideas coming... I'm sure Revhead would love some more feedback for his recent efforts... :D

mike thats what i was saying have someone or somepeople who always are keen to turn up to events and happy to help organise them as a club admin and thats all they do.

Gary is currently on a working holiday so won't be able to answer for at least another week and a bit.

Slip has copped quite a bit of flak in this thread - the club is here largely due to his input, and for that point alone he has earned my praises. I'm not saying you're not allowed to disagree with him or dispute something that he says, just remember that without him, there wouldn't even be a club.

Adrian - aww shucks

The FAQ is a work in progress... if you think something needs to be added or changed or something isn't clear enough, send an email to the address on the page. I pick it up with all my home email so it will be read. Slip and Gary haven't been consulted yet either so they may well have something to add.

Keep the feedback coming - we don't know what everyone wants unless you tell us :)

PS Cards are being printed this week after problems with file formats, then printer dramas etc. My fault, but they'll be sent out with the stickers asap.

good stuff! and cheers to paul, gary n marc... for doing something like this takes dedication, time and alot of effort - and also money, they aren not paid to do this, and are doing it for all of us.

Whatever slip's reason is really up to him, but this gives everyone an oppurtunity to vote for

who they want. So chaos, if u dont like slip then vote for someone else... no need to pop a nut.

But now that the club is up and running, I guess slowly a system will be put in place, positions assigned, maybe a commitee or a board, regular meetings, and this is where people can start to put in more positive input, who they think will be a good sponser, ideas and stuff. Sad to see alot of hardwork go unappreciated, and to see bumps in the road already specially so soon after its launch.

As to the executive's attendence, they are only 3 people, when things are more sorted, and more people are assigned jobs or positions u can have ur executives.

Fine i will say what i know some people have been thinking.

Your not well liked slip, im sorry to say.

You have to be kidding me right? That’s the fu(king dumbest thing I have ever seen you type. And you type quite a lot of dumb/lame crap.

On what grounds do you base your theory on; that "Slips not well liked"?

This club reminds me of the "haves" and "haves nots" I wont name the people I view are on each side, as I’m sure most are aware of these elitism groups.

I for one, as well as many others, have no problem what’s so ever with slip. I no I will be keeping in contact with Paul when he steps down, as his an awesome person.

well here is something of interest for you about Mr Slip, Nismo_Boy

click on the video called "Mt Cootha hoon gang"

Just a short video of Slip doing illegal activities with another car club whose cruises that he obviously does have the time to attend, on a mountain run no less, which he has banned SAU paying members from discussing and attending on this very forum.

What a great guy

if the video link gets deleted from the source before you get to see it, never fear the page and video has been cached to be put up on other host space if need be.

Jelyfunk,

1) Who are you?

2) Why would I take notice what you post, as you are a "no-body", yes correct, no one.

3) Would you like a video of me doing illegal activities ? My post wasnt about things Slip may or may not do, it was about him as a person; re Ben's post, saying he wasnt liked.

Now please drink bleach and die.

So what your saying is, if he wants to hang out with a few mates, he need's to invite all of SAU along?

So in theory, same would go for if slip wanted to take a shit? he would need to invite all of SAU to watch him take it, as he is the club Pres`?

Bah, this thread is way too funny. More tool's should post, I have enough free time to shoot you all down.

As stated before:

I am not saying that anyone is doing anything right or wrong, but at the moment all we are doing is trying to move the club forward by pulling it in a million different directions all at once, why dont we just all try to pull it in the same direction, wouldn't that be easier?

Is this is how we are going to treat every club exec that is not doing what "I" thinks he/she is supposed to be doing?

No offence but some people here are acting WORSE than politicians, if you think ANY exec is not doing their job properly, THIS IS THE WRONG place to voice it. The time and place is club meetings, which I am sure will be organised when the exec's have time.

And if you think the current exec's do not have time or you do not think or want them representing you or your club properly, let your vote count! All mud slinging is doing is make us all look like a bunch of 5 year olds arguing over who gets to play on the swings next!

Slandering and mud throwing will get this club NO WHERE but give people yet ANOTHER reason not to join up what I think is a GREAT achievement of EVERYONE, yes the exec's had a lot to do with this club, but everyone as a whole made this site/club a very nice community, one which I love to be a part of because of the people involved, (yes even you Charly), of which some I think are acting TOTALLY INAPPROPRIATLY!

How bout we STOP all the SHIT and just move forward?!?!?!

Anyone who has issues please bring them along to the club meetings please, and then voice them there with as much gusto as you wish, lets keep this community a freindly community who people want to be a part of, not slandered or put down just because they want to do what they want as a human being.

In closing and I know I am repeating myself:

IF you have a problem with any of the exec's then please voice them in the appropriate place, Club Meetings.

You dont have permission to post/host that video on any other site...

What Paul (slip) does with his time is of little relevance to you or anyone else. Each to his own, he is his own man and could sit in the middle of corro sucking his thumb instead of going to a cruise if he wanted.

I have to say im taking your post and a personal attack on Paul and a directed attack at teamkrazy. If it is, thats not the smartest thing you could have done. All im going to say is, dont attack people and groups you dont know.

Fine i will say what i know some people have been thinking.

Your not well liked slip, im sorry to say, Here you go on about how much time/effort/money you have along with gary put into this club and simply give up once its done.

and what right do you have to have a go at strutto like that, as erin said NOT 1 exec. rocked up to the big skyline cruise, NOT 1 exec. rocked up to the dyno day which im quite sure erin put a hard effort in to organising with our sponser, what kind of leadership is that??? Is it too much of a hassle to come and say hi and hang around for 30mins or so and mingle with YOUR financial members, members who some have been waiting a very long time to see this club finnaly on its feet and going.

I am saying what is on my mind and has been for a very long time, I DONT LIKE YOU, you simply crossed the line (yes im bringing this back up) when i was singled out for not owning a skyline.

here you go

I DONT OWN A CAR AT ALL.

When i first signed up i asked you when the club will be official.. you said a few months, this was almost 2 years ago.

Now go ahead say what you think about me i couldnt honestly care anymore.

As the Clubs Executive Forum Liason and attendee of both MSCII and the Dyno I can safely say you are full of shit.

The SAU page has been updated. Again, if you can think of some way to improve it (keeping in mind that Optus free webspace doesn't allow server-side scripting) let me know.

Basically I've set it up as more than a FAQ page now, and it contains info on the upcoming Cruise Out West (inventive name eh?), and provision for heaps of other stuff.

    • I had absolutely no symptoms whatsoever that anything was wrong.... I'm very happy it was all spotto'd and re-bled and re-torqued and aligned though. Will be picking it up tomorrow and undoubtedly be like "Oh, that clunk is gone" "Oh, the car really wants to drive straight" "Oh, that pedal feels better" "Oh, it feels like I've gained 25hp" "Oh, the handbrake works now" It should have been a sign that the new Project Mu shoes had 3mm of pad depth on them out of the box, and the OEM ones from 25 years ago that we took out also had 3mm of pad depth, implying the issue was not, and never was the shoes, but we put that down to it not being adjusted correctly. It wasn't, but it wasn't even adjustable at all given one side was boned and the T Junction of the cables was on a 45 degree angle, the non-working side being the one on the massive angle. Obviously when I had adjusted it and reset it and re-tensioned it I had either got it stuck or something along those lines. Oh well. Live and learn and absolutely could have been catastrophically worse so I'm rationalizing it as a win, kinda. I also got the chance to measure the distance between rear rim and the suspension arm/shocks and found a 30mm rubber block only just doesn't fit there. Which is great to know before ordering wheels, when I assumed 30mm was easy. The man with the Porsche adapters has rims that use 23.9mm of that space, so it's safe to assume I have between 23.9 and 29.9mm of space there to play with on the inside. The wheels looked pretty stupidly pokey with the 20mm spacers on the rear, only for me to find that the studs come out another 12mm and the wheel doesn't actually sit flush with the hub because you're supposed to cut your original studs. The wheels do have cutouts that kinda accomodate it, but not fully. So my 20mm spacer was anywhere between 25mm and 35mm. ~25mm and send it will determine on where the wheels sit with the spacers on. When I put the pads in for the track day I will mess around with spacers (with wheels that do not clear studs properly when mounted to spacers) and do more math, for the last time, for the 7th time.
    • Lucky pick up Best to find these things before something horrible happened to the yoke flange thingies I would hate to think what would happen if it dropped the tailshaft  Hopefully the holes are not flogged out in the yokes and it was just the bolts that got munted  As for the hand brake.....ouch, look like the disc got rather hot, and I assume smokey, I recall when I had a front caliper seize on the Commodore, there was lots of smoke and the disc was glowing cherry red when I was able to eventually stop and have a look, and stopping a big heavy car, going down a big hill with some rather high RPM down shifts and some hand brake action is something that makes you think hard about life
    • One of the things that never seemed right was the handbrake. Put in some nice new Project Mu shoes. We figured the rears were out, so why not. We're right there. My handbrake never worked well anyway. Well, this is them, 15km later. 67fdcf94-9763-4522-97a4-8f04b2ad0826.mp4 Keen eyes would note the difference in this picture too:   And this picture: Also, this was my Tailshaft bolts: 4ad3c7dd-51d0-4577-8e72-ba8bc82f6e87.mp4 It turns out my suspicions that one side of the handbrake cable was stretched all along were pretty accurate, as was my intuition that I didn't want to drop the tailshaft to swap them on jack stands and wasn't entirely sure about bolt torque. I have since bought the handbrake cables which have gone in. I'm very glad that I went to my mechanic friend who owns an alignment machine to get an alignment before the track day, because his eyes spotted these various levels of "WHAT THE f**k IS GOING ON HERE?". Turns out the alignment wasn't that bad, considering we changed the adjustable castor arms out for un-adjustable castor arms, and messed with the heights. Car drove pretty good with one side of the handbrake stuck on, unbleedable rear brakes, alignment screwy, and the tailshaft about to go flying and generally being a death trap waiting to happen! (I did have covid) (I maintain I adjusted the handbrake correctly, but movement caused shennanigans and/or I dislodged the spring on the problem side somewhat, or god knows what). G R E G G E D
    • Very interesting, im not sure how all those complications fit in to running a haltech instead of a stock ecu but I'm starting to think I'm a bit out of my league.
    • I just put 2 and 2 together. This is a Neo converted R32. The Neo ECU (in concert with the R34's AC controller) runs the AC quite differently to how the R32 ECU and AC controller do it. If you just drop it all in, it won't work. There is some tricky wiring required, including changing to the pressure switch that the Neo controllers want to see. I don't know what it is, because mine was done by a guru. It was a year or so after I did that transplant before he worked out what needed to be done.
