Mechanics in Japan?

Are they in a high demand? Any idea on what the pay is like? What do they require as qualifications.

I'm plannin on goin to Japan, makin some money teaching english while I learn some Jap, by then, I should have made some contacts in the Mechanical industry, but I'm just wondering if its worth it.
