there was also an extremely rare twin cam head for the L20 4 cyl engine...i cant remember if it was HKS or nismo that made it though

And SVO (ford motorsport division) make a stroker kit for the 460 cube big block V8.....as if 460 wasnt big enuff....it takes it out to 600 cubes!

Yeah i looked at getting one of those heads for my old supercharged L series...Roughly bout 6k and then you still have to buy valves/springs/cams etc etc...Not worth it really!!!!

600 cubes??? Think bout the torque though!! Holy crap!!

Come on! MX5's might have great chassis balance, etc but sports car? They're the original hair dreser's car, aren't they.Give me an S13 over one of them anyday! (even an SR20 one!)

I disagree with calling an MX5 a hair dressers car, even standard. It would be interesting to put a standard MX5 against a standard DR30 around Baskerville raceway, I reckon the MX5 would do a quicker lap time. (But the DR30 would shit on it on any circuit with a decent straight.)

why didn't they stick with the S20?

Have you ever seen an exploded diagram of the S20?

It's one of the most complicated engines out there & is not at all suited to mass-production or low-maintenance.

The LY SOHC or OS-Giken DOHC would have been a much better candidate, but from a marketing perspective a new engine is always better than an old one, re-worked (a'la Holden 4/6).

I say GT, or like the R31, sporting sedan.

HOWEVER....In a historical context its most definitely one of Japan's muscle cars, the power, handling etc see to that. Particularly modified examples, a DR30 with period big turbo upgrade, rock hard coilovers, 15" watanabes etc is every bit a muscle car (in the same way a Falcon with a modded 351, fat rims, slammed suspension etc it) - fast, but a definite handful.

    • Crazy how good the aero bar looks compared to the stock one
    • Yes, but you will need to rewire all the things that are different. CAS, coils, etc. Yes, but there is no IAT. What? You can use anything you like. It just has to be hooked up so that it will work.     Or are you wanting to just plug and play without having to do any thinking/work?
    • It's been a little over a decade since I bought the S15. As I did on my socials, I'll share some of my favorite pictures from over the years further below. If you haven't realised, pretty much all the pictures in my posts are ones I've taken.  In terms of updates, I don't have pictures, but I acquired a near-perfect pair of fog lights from a friend of mine, so those got swapped in for the pair I already had. As for the JZX110, I just got it back from being fixed. A few weeks back, I was on the highway when I suddenly drove over something with very little time to react. It was probably the size of a soccer ball, but it went under the car and banged into the underside pretty loudly. I pulled over and realized the fluid leaking was fuel, and of course, it was right near my exhaust. This required replacing the fuel tank. If you happen to be in the same predicament, thankfully this car shares a fuel tank with the JZS171, IS200, and IS300, so it wasn't too painful to replace. Enjoy some pictures as mentioned above, including the carnage from the fuel tank and a bonus picture I came across which shows how ridiculously shiny the Bugels are on the 110. So many more pictures I could share of the S15 but this will do for today, enjoy.
