Hi all , been looking into this as a convienent way to get a modern affordable (?) turbo for RB's . It has an integral waste gate with I think GT35 84 trim turbine and possibly 82 or 1.06 housing . The compressor (GT40) trim I don't know but could be 50,52,56T , and uses a .50 AR compressor cover . Ford claims 240Kw and the aftermarket are I think up around 280-300 . For those who want an OEM appearing turbo capable of serious power it could be the answer . Can anyone tell me what the wheel trims are and the exhaust housing AR . I have a part no I'll post later which is either the unit or CHRA number .

Cheers A .

discopotato03,

I have one it in my R33, but with a .82 exhuast housing (integral waste gate). You can buy from Garrett a GT3540 (Same spec. to the Ford GT3540), but the compressor cover is .70 not .50 like the Ford and it come with a 1.06 exhuast housing (integral waste gate). The only different b/w the Ford exhaust housing is that it have the word "Ford" printed on it whereas the other have "Garrett". It is rated 700hp and you can get one from Ford for about $3,500. If you shop around for the Garrett version (the Ford turbo is Made by Garrett anyway) anything around the $2,500 is a good price.

If you decided to go for is turbo then my advise is get the turbo supplier to quote you a price where they will custom fit a .82 exhuast housing (integral waste gate) instead of the 1.06 housing which come with the turbo, this would require machining of the housing to fit the bigger turbine wheel.

When I fitted this turbo in the car with the 1.06 Ex housing; there were so much lag!! It was making full boost (9psi) at about 4500 to 5000 rpm (this was bad and not what i wanted). So, out the turbo when and in when the .82 Ex housing instead (much better; its making 9psi at about 3900 rpm). With this turbo, i am making 210 KW at the wheel with 12.5 psi. Mod includes; 3" exhoust, FMIC, Power FC, fuel pump, air filter and everything else is standard. I hope the information helps you.

NisJet.

Thanks Nizjet . I'm looking for one for a RB26/30 with a bit more low down than that . Also the .50AR compressor cover would help to bring it on a bit earlier . Maybe I'm aiming too high and should be looking at a GT30R with the .82 AR exhaust housing .

Does anyone know which CHRA's go into RB25 Hi Flowed turbos . I think in the 33/30DET thread SK comented that one of them worked well . If FoMoJoke wants $3500 for their name on it they can go rip some F'n Orible Rusty Device pilot .

Thanks A .

    • So, they simply stick out too far because very wide + very low offset (at the front). At least it's up nice and high so they shouldn't bang into the car too much.
    • Since this is the page where i found myself while searching for wheel fitment, i will add the ones im looking to replace too. Fenders arent rolled, so in big bumps they touch the tire (tires could be narrower). no any adjustable arms, so the camper is what it is (dont know). Wheels: 5ZIGEN Fireball Front: 18x9.5 ET12 - 245/40 Rear: 18x10.5 ET25 - 285/35
    • That’s a beautiful setup Tao, Have u done any development with the new Turbosmart 40mm electronic straight gate, especially in this G30 configuration?
    • Let's hope that's not a copy pump either. There were so many copies of them back in the day.
    • Damn it, I was at work last night, and stayed in a room there during the storm with the car outside, but undercover, I just went downstairs and well....there was a large steel locker that has come from some place last night, it wasn't anywhere I could see yesterday, and yeap, it landed on the fraking car....of course it did..... LOL So, I'll need to take it back for paint and panel, luckily it was only the boot that took the hit, so it could have been worse Serves me right for staying at work and getting on the cans with some of the boys
