Essential
After looking at some pictures of drift day i noticed one of the cars had a different pipe setup .. was wondering what the benefits of running your intercooler pipes this way would achieve. im asuming its just so you can get easy access to your spark plugs with out having to pull the pipes off. WazR32GTSt
well it would shorten the length of the pipes a little bit and also solves any problems with pipes rubbing on the fan and rubbing on the bonnet Waz. predator
as above just shorter piping, which will mean a tiny bit greater response, and probably also better for heat as its not kind of wrapped around the engine. CerealKiller
wouldn't the bends negate any theoretic performance increase? I thought length is as important as air flow. That bend into the plenum doesn't really look helpful. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/50492-rb20det-pipes/#findComment-1002681 Share on other sites
Chris32
Similar setup was used on the Gibson Motorsport R31's, it seems to be the way to go if you want to run a shorter intercooler pipe for less lag and heat soak. It would save around A number of guys are running a similar setup on the forum's with good results Chris Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/50492-rb20det-pipes/#findComment-1002692 Share on other sites
makaveli
what do you guys think of piping that goes under the cooler and back in the original position? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/50492-rb20det-pipes/#findComment-1002695 Share on other sites
Chris32
That seems to do the trick, just a bit longer with the pipe work A mate 33 was like that, it worked really well At least it keeps the pipes out of the engine bay for as long as possible Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/50492-rb20det-pipes/#findComment-1002708 Share on other sites
Essential
So far positives .. any negatives with this setup?? i personally liek it as i dont have to spend mroe time un plugging everything to get to my spark plugs. Thanks, Essential Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/50492-rb20det-pipes/#findComment-1002776 Share on other sites

At the pressures, diameters and velocities we are talkign about you are talking less then a bees d1ck Provided it isnt a horrible mitred end, and the welds/fit up are ok, then bends wont hurt flow. CerealKiller
what do you guys think of piping that goes under the cooler and back in the original position? like my Blitz kit? very easy to install. I think it works well as the hot pipe is the one that runs under the cooler so it gets cool before going through the intercooler. I guess it's more effective??? makaveli
Ive got the same blitz kit, its really good and only took me about 1 hour to install. In my opinion its effective as its avoiding engine heat a bit more, although I never thought that the length of the pipes would be that much to make a difference. I think its a very efficient setup but I am open to more information! take it easy Mark Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/50492-rb20det-pipes/#findComment-1004604 Share on other sites
