can't see anything?? just the red [ X ]

EDIT: OK I can see it now... thanks ausgtr...

haha.. keyboard warriors :( I bet half their info is from keyboard warriors on the forums around the world. Funny thing is speed are no different to keyboard warriors, unless they're willing to put their money on their article... Would have been nice to see them slap themselves for that useless fuga/skyline article.

The next Godzilla will be R36 GT-R...
Speed obviously didn`t read THIS where I posted back in December last year:

"Notes: By 2007, the new V36 Skyline will be ready for realease, just in time to co-incide with the release of the "Old" new GT-R... I think Carlos hasn't been honest with us..."

Thanks to some misconstrued statements from global Nissan press, internet keyboard warriors had predicted the new model would abandon the "R" prefix for a V designation, due largely to the current Skyline range being tagged the V35...
Mmmm, I wonder who they referring to...

whats a mini gtr??

this v8 that they refer to is this a current engine from the nissan stable or a newly developed engine for the infiniti gtr?

i notice that in this article they talk more about the v6 and only brifely mention the v8 wonder why??

Please somebody show me some pics of development of a V8 for a GT-R.... please.... anybody.

This V8 stuff is giving me the shits. All this talk, and even though Cosworth have had a V6 engine going on almost 2 years... theres still no V8 research and development for the GT-R.

Carlos baby don't tell me no nothing about a V8 for the GT-R during the launch of the 6 new models last week. That dog better give me first drive, if it is true.

/on a serious note

thanks for that, the funniest shit I have read all week. Needed a cheer up over all the bad events happening over here recently. Should Speed need to pay for information just to get back at the keyboard warriors???

If for some reason Nissan have changed their mind and gone for a V8 for the new GT-R then they certainly feel threatened by Toyota's V6 FR Sports (Supra?) or V10 Super FR Sports model...which I'm surprised Speed haven't bothered to look into yet (pssssss tip for Speed, your not paying your mole enough money). I find the Toyota V10 concept model a very interesting car joining the growing preference for V10s by other makers. Note again, as I have mentioned before this is one reason the Nissan went for the 2.6L bettering the JZA70 1JZ just after it's release.

The other reason could be their target market...are they seriously challenging something like Aston Martin? Porsche is the marque, circuit and street...and that's who they are going after. If they can de-throne the 911 = instant worldwide respect and success. A V8 will not do them any good unless they are better engine builder than Ferrari, also when their biggest market is Japan and circuit racing is where the GT-R proves they are the best. But then again they have already abandon the GT-R for JGTC, stopped using a GT-R engine - the RB26 in favour for a VQ30DETT so they could choose any engine they liked but how competitive is this V8...is it a turbo? Remember JGTC only allows NA V8s, no turbo V8s.

People, I'm so tired already...do any of us really care? The next GT-R will be great but I for one and others in Japan do not wish to see a V8 in the GT-R...remember which is the primary market which influences the Skyline/GT-R

so does this article bear any truth at all rezz or is speed yet again blowing smoke up our a55es again?

this is the first i have read anywhere about the r36 model naming of the gtr is it true?

Good question, the first mention of the "V36" GT-R or the "36 Skyline GT-R" as some Japanese enthusiasts like to call it was back in January '03, when rumours came out about a possible 2007 release (pre-'03 Tokyo Motor Show). People back then put 2 and 2 together that 2007 is well into the new model (V36) cycle, and therefore the next GT-R would obviously be based on that platform.

I'm not refuting any claims Speed Magazine about the "36" designation, but I'm still hesitant to go along with what they say about the "R" part... but now we're splitting hairs. I'm gonna wait for Japanese verification (in process) about an "R"36 GT-R, mainly because theres been no mention of it so far here, and I'll be damned if ANY Aussie mag can scoop any Japanese publication about the next GT-R. Get where I'm coming from?

... I mean... could you imagine first reading about the the new (eg: VA) Commodores all-alloy 9.0L quad turbo V8 boatanchor in a Japanese magazine? You'd doubt the authenticity until one of the local mags verified it right? Well thats what should happen here except in reverse.

As meshmesh said:

I can name about 2 or 3 sources that directly steal content from SAU regarding the next GT-R (and current Skylines!) and I'm pretty certain some non-Australian magazines lurk the SAU forums for next GT-R info too... some of the stuff that is written is too much of a coincedence. On the other hand, maybe I'm just hoping that people copy whats posted on SAU and I'm just dreaming...

the 2 articals side by side, to me, seem to be someone trying to justify themselves just a little to hard! i don't get it, the top secret story seems to be a dig at the other thread here relating to "speed", "AND IT"S A V8", people who posted there were reffering to the factory produced car not a workshop produced monster?

Anybody remember this?

No retractions.

You'll see what the big deal about the M45 is in issue 15.

So did they make mention of the M45/Fuga in the latest issue? Did they elaborate on the V8 going on the V36 Skyline???

My guess is they ran out of smoke....

    • Ok glad you clarified on the frenchy’s options , I was worried about if my oem hoses would fit the new compressor or not if I just bought the bracket/compressor kit ,  didn’t realize they also sold a larger full conversion kit. Hmm may just go oem in that case then to make it easy only because I plan to sell this car to upgrade to a 32 GTR or 34 GTT.
    • Right, here's a video of the basic operation at least.  This is what you can expect day to day when you turn the car on and it boots from standby.  The only thing from a media point of view I haven't gotten working is for it to autoplay plexamp when it turns on from standby (it works from cold boot) but that's more of a plexamp problem as it will autoplay other music players.  Also attached is my one stray cable.  It's part of the screen's wiring adapters but there's just nowhere for it to go in my car.  I've just now done a bit of research and found a matching port on a 2010-2014 head unit with BOSE.  Mine has no BOSE so that's that case pretty much closed I think.  Plugging in the Infiniti AC panel basically did nothing for me, so that's a dead end as well.  Next port of call is to mess with this CANBUS module and see what I can find from it.  I found this resource containing the DBC files for a 2010+ G37 : https://github.com/icecube45/Dash_InfinitiG37/blob/master/InfinitiG37.dbc I'll now have something to go from when I try to extract my CANBUS data so I can see if the HVAC Mode, Fan Speed, Temperature, etc. match and also the gear shifter position.  It's a pretty big assumption that it's just mismatched CAN signals but considering all the devices in the CAN network are talking to each other (AC can be fully adjusted just with no info on screen) it might be a safe one.  I will report back WhatsApp Video 2025-02-26 at 12.49.10.mp4
    • Thanks for that Paul.  Do you think if I posted a picture you'd be able to remember where it went?
    • Sorry Duncan, I didn't get a notification for the replies.  Thanks for responding!  It's a full Android device, but does allow you to use CarPlay/AA as well.  This is the one I bought from NaviRS on AliExpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006368602668.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.111.59aa1802JDzQ0E - the 2K 8G-256G CAM variant but it seems to have gone up by £170 since I bought it!  My purchase was £307.14.   It's not the fastest thing in the world but performs perfectly adequately.  It stays on standby unless I disconnect the battery and let it power down, then it's just a fairly standard Android bootup time from cold.  The DSP Equaliser is very nice and made the standard stereo system sound pretty decent compared to the stock screen.  Perhaps I can take a video of it when I get a sec. It *allegedly* supports the reverse camera, but I'm yet to get that working.  It has options for reverse cam (a camera unit can be bought separately) or 360 cameras (also bought separately).  To be fair it doesn't seem to detect that the shifter was put into reverse but I'm working on a theory about this as well.  At the moment I'm going without which is a bit annoying considering the car is an absolute canal barge but so far I haven't caused any damage I'll grab a picture of the wire I'm missing later today when I can get outside.  My theory, by the by, is that not only is the head unit different, but the CANBUS network has different signals for the different years.  I think this because I have a spare AC panel from a newer Infiniti G37 (as opposed to my Nissan panel) which wouldn't control anything except the volume when I had it wired up with the stock system.  I'm going to throw it back in and see if the screen will respond to it.  I've just ordered an arduino CANBUS module so I can have a look at the signals going around the car and see if I can spot anything.  I'm thinking if I can work out what it's expecting vs what it's getting I might be able to translate and relay the signal back but so far just a theory anyway. I also found this on my travels, so far the only one that specifically matches my car: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002822934280.html?spm=a2g0s.imconversation.0.0.33433e5fgttovi If you look at the picture of the before, it has the card reader slot, and the picture of the head unit is exactly the same as the one pictured in my original post.  I asked if they sell the cables separately but sadly they won't.  I didn't want to just buy this one because it's a super old Android version and only dual core - likely slow as hell.
    • As above, you did refill the coolant and burp the system before running it again didn't you?
