I'm awaiting the arrival of an emanage from the states, with the ingition, injection, and boost harnesses (and sensor)

where (in peoples experience) are good places to get this installed and configured.

I dont really mind doing the install, but want it setup by someone who knows what they are doing with fuel maps etc ...

either south sydney (the shire) or north sydney / chatswood ish

cheers

yeah, tell me about it ....

luckily i can work from home for half the week tho ...

the 'dont blow up the coils kit' well, from reading up on the emanage, the latest version of the firmware has this built in, was to do with supplying a constant voltage to the coils, and aparently this has now been turned off ... also, there wre some reports that the new harnesses are comming with the zenier diodes built in ... might just get some zeniers anyway ... not exactly expensive, and worth it to save the coils i think !

not gone for the warning light thing yet, will see if it does it as it appears that some do and some dont ... strange ... if i need to i'll grab one from AU somewhere ..

got any thoughts on an installer ?

cheers

That's a long way to drive ot work every day, tangO.

Did you also get the "don't blow up the coils" kit?

And the "turn the engine warning light off" kit?

I don't know of anyone down your way that deals with the e-manage??? Come to think of it...they are thin on the ground up here too!

I've been running the zeners for a while now, no problems, I'd recommend doing it even though they say the software is fixed...as the voltage drop over the zener brings the trigger voltage down from 5V closer to the factory trigger voltage.

I'm also 99% sure your checklight will be on, as you have the same coils as the R34..which means the diagnostic system in the ECU will detect the same 'problem'

You can do a fairly good tune yourself using the 'consult' to pull your factory map off the ECU and adjust tune through the e-manage...then just run along to a dyno to check out how you went

hmm

ok thanks

forget to mention that the pc cable + software is comming with it too ...

oh also, what ranting are the zeners you get ??? 3.3v ?

cheers

full cost including shipping from the US is $640 USD

from the nice people at

http://www.mohdparts.com/emanage/

They currently don't have any of the pressure sensor / harness in stock, so am awaiting for it to ship from japan to the US, then from the US to AU ... sigh ... could be a while ..

couldnt find anyone in AU that would come near that price with all the harnesses

Wow, a full kit, or "set of kits" in Emanage speak.  How much did it cost, if I can be so rude?

Yeah I used 3.3V 1W zeners.

haha you'll end up like me...an ambassador for GReddy, current electronic bullshit stands at-

e-manage

software + cable

harnesses injector + ignition

ignition signal adapter

knock sensor harness (for sale)

Home dodgied-up O2 sensor harness

BTW Mohamed from Mohdparts is a champ....I've dealt with him a lot over the past year and have never found anyone so helpful.

lol ... nice

thanks, whats the O2 sensor harness you have ??? got a schematic or something for it ????

and yeah, had a few emails bouncing back and forth, and he seems like a genuine guy, seems pretty helpful ...

Please don't swear at me ...

no, its a manual ...

not bagging anyones car here, but why would someone buy a car like this, with a sludge box ... personally couldn't do it ... but thats just me ...

I'm from the UK where autos are for only 2 types of people

1. old

2. disabled

sorry ..

Have you got an auto?

hmmm

cheaper power fc ??

640 USD = 927 AUD, then there is fitting + dyno days to set it up etc etc ...

i have not managed to find a power fc for a gts-t for under $1400 new ...

besides, i could use paypal with them, and have some UK pounds still sitting in an account in the UK (linked with paypal)

well, not sitting there anymore

Oh I thought it must be an auto cause you chose an Emanage over the cheaper Power FC, sorry.

Disabled....ppppffft watch you language about my slush-box

I wired the O2 sensor into the boost sensor port of the e-manage...which you won't be able to do as you are getting the boost sensor harness....basically anything that outputs a voltage between 0-5 volts can be plugged into it and logged, resolution is changed through the real-time data logging on the software

I bought a Power FC for $900, last month and one this month for $1125, that's with the Commander and it came from Nengun.

Power FC fitting was 8 minutes, remove LHS kick panel, unplug std ecu, plug in Power FC and drive to dyno. As for tuning, I seriously doubt that anyone could fit and tune an Emanage (fuel and igntion) faster than a Power FC. So fitting and tuning together would be cheaper or at worst maybe the same.

I will be very interested in how you get on though. I have an auto Stagea (so no Power FC) and I am looking at an Emanage for it. Please post up the results.

dammit - now yo uhave me thinking ...

the monies for the emanage have not been taken, its going to take about 6 weeks for the emanage to arrive ... powerfc from nengun ....

hmmmm

ok, so the pros and cons ... ???

will the power fc plug into my laptop for realtime stats etc

With a Datalogit you can tune it and perform data logging to your heart's content. Refer to www.datalogit.co.nz for the cost of the datalogit software. There are a couple of extra outputs from the Datalogit that might come in handy, we use the intercooler spray for example.

There is really no comparison between an add on (piggy back) solution like an Emanage and a full ECU. Power FC = Full Computer. There is so much more you can do, if you want to.

With the Power FC we bought last month, I chose not to have an Commander, the owner spent the money (plus a little bit more) on a Datalogit instead. I like the Commander though, it's great for quick diagnostics and it saves buying quite a few gauges.

More to think about

gah, yes, lots more to think about ....

i'm now leaning more towards a power fc ...

tha lack of emanage tuners in sydney is not doing the emanage any good either ...

plus the ease of installation, and the lack of the wifes 'omg i can't believe you're spending xxx hours on the car again'

hmmm

nengun here i come (maybe)

    • I would paint match the whole thing to avoid unwanted attention  I had a similar bonnet, paint matched, on my old R33 GTST, but mine was a fibreglass jobbie made by Blitz in QLD, they work extremely well for radiator efficiency and under bonnet temps
    • Does anyone run this kit with factory plenum? Does the adapter and bosch tb fit under factory strut brace? I wanted to get this setup before going forward facing manifold. Thanks
    • small update time, after always wanting a "cool" looking bonnet for my car and always struggling to find one for the series 2 that i liked and wasn't an insane amount of money. Saw one i liked on RHDjapan from D-speed in Japan the price was very good for a carbon bonnet so good infact i was a little unsure how much i trusted it, decided to bite the bullet and with the help of jesse streeter in not long at all it was at my door. Once it was delivered i ran in from work and quickly unboxed it and to my surprise the quality was actually pretty good i quickly removed the old bonnet and placed on the new one to test it out and even the fitment wasnt too bad at all. Then decided to paint the little grille in the bonnet black to stop it sticking out so much.   I decided to not mess around with the hood latch and just install some aero catch hood pins, having never installed them before did some YouTube university classes and i was good to go. fair to say it is not a fun job at all from making brackets so the pins sit nicely and actually cutting through the bonnet but also being very scared of cutting the holes too big it took wayyyy longer than i would like to admit but finally got it there. Then it was time for a quick test drive to ensure the latches actually worked and thankfully the bonnet looked very stable. I still think paint matching the bonnet and leaving just the part that sticks up as carbon would help make it all look alot neater as im not sure how i feel about all that carbon on a very fridge white car but will leave it as is and see how i feel with time.
    • I think it's bound to happen, you finally get it all perfect, and bam, something will happen. I took a while to get a Commodore rear quarter repaired where a P Plater clipped it. Two days after getting it back, Sarah wiped it out on a concrete pillar in an underground car park... This is why I take forever to repair them, it stretches how long until it gets bent again... 😛
    • Nah, not really responsible for that little fiasco, but I'm still pissed at myself for writing off my 86, or when I reversed my VX into a pole just before selling it, but, meh, 5hit happens to stuff, all it takes is a slight distraction, and life is full of distractions, and "dooh" moments
