STUPID question

Hey guys,

As the topic says, this is a pretty stupid quesiton but im gonna ask it anyway. In my 25gtst (r33) its pretty much stock and i noticed when i took the top thing on my airbox off (so jus the panel filter and the air intake left) the car seem to 'suck' in more air. Howvere, a few people told me that this was not safe for the engine, but i was thinking, isnt hvaing a pod filter similar to this? anyways i need your opinions on wetaher its ok to run without the air box thing. (currently its still clipped on).

pod filters filter the air goin in of rocks, leaves n whatever else the intake can suck in. also stops water droplets gettin thru in large quantities.

dont run without the airbox thing... just get a better flowing panel filter eg K+N but please dont run your car without a filter/cover on the box....

I ditched the pod as it wasn't much use as a filter. With the top cut off now it's slightly more willing than before. Like this is not as free flowing as the pod (or as noisy) but I have good filtration.

Cutting the top off your air box is only going to make your performance suffer as you are sucking in hot engine air. You will notice that most people who get pod filters also opt for a cold air box etc. Do as Leech says and get a K+N pannel filter or a pod.

does the k&n panel filters make any sort of noise compared to the stock ones? just curious.

it may make a little bit more but if you are after the noise get a pod filter you will get more sucking sound with that...
