i will write those down and stick them to my monitor so that i dont forget them

are there any other mods that a stagea owner should conisder doing to imrove handling and general performance such as the brakes. do they need to be upgraded or are they quite good

Ours has new DBA rotors (not slotted) front and rear and unknown (but new) pads. It stops pretty good for an automatic 1,650 kg lump. Handling wise, as I said in my previous post;

Std Springs = OK

Shocks = Bilsteins with extra grooves to adj height

Fix Roll = Stabiliser bars

Turn in and light steering = more caster

+ Check wheel alignment after lowering to see if camber adjustment needed.

I might try one of those nifty torque split controllers like we have on the race GTR's. They are fun to play with, if somewhat confusing when you also have adj stabiliser bars, adj shocks, numerous spring rates, adj camber and adj caster. Makes my brain aches just thinking about it. :headspin:

Better brake pads all round would be good enough for a street car. From what I notice reading the specs lastnight, and I guess giving it a bit around the track...IIRC HKS Kansai just changed the front to F50 Brembo calipers, rear remained standard and used project mu titan pads all round. Will look more into their handling and braking setup tonight :D

edit: had a look at the brake setup of the cars I mentioned in the list, either better pads for mild tune or Brembos for the hi-power tuned ones...if you can afford to tune that much power you'd want to be able to stop :).

I drove mine a bit before putting the Pod Filter, Front Mount and Full 3" exhaust back on what a difference it makes, sucks the juice as we all said but it happens. The Boost controler is to go back on so a bit more to come.

I put 225's on instead of usual 205's on at time of compliance, well it sits so low since I put the coilovers back on I cant put 3 people in the back.

New R34 GTR seats with Stagea Rails, arive this week as Jeff at www.c-red.com.au has tracked down company who built ones for Nissan and are now selling new, quite well priced but need to order 6 set's and Sea freight to keep price down.

All I know is Jeff said "I will order the seats and a set of rails to suit the Stagea" if they are just a bolt on or not I am not sure, at the price I was more than happy to have seperate rails.

If somebody wanted them for a 32 and it was direct fitment it is easyier to sell with rails.

I learnt over the years to buy seats with rails.

Good stuff - you'll love it when you pick it up.

I was out at the exhaust shop today (wooohooo, booked in on 21st Sept for a full 3 inch system :) ) and got talking to the owner about the car. One of the workshop blokes was looking under the car and said 'hay - this has a skyline motor in it..., DAMN and it's 4wd !!!"

I had a big grin on my face...

When I told them how much they sell for they almost fell over...

Once the word get's out I dare say there will be a few more going around :)

I imported it myself, Hey Mad Wagon did you get yours from preferred autos on bribane road, my dads cousin works there, I think i may have seen your car on their lot.

Currently its with Ernest (my compliance man) at Skyline imports in brisbane (southside) So i got to go get it and rego it on thursday providing the plate arrives on time.

The only problem is i'm working most of the weekend! GRRR Last fri night I was mixing for some international Bosnian band at Southport sharks til like 2 in the morning then worked all saturday. This saturday i gotta work most of the day then have to DJ at some function at the casino til like 3:30am on sun morning. Hmm could be a sleepless weekend. Must go cruzing sunday arvo maybe. Got mods to start and stereo to install aswell.

At least i'll have it in my hot little hands. Then I can truly become part of the club.

    • Excuse me, but 2) does apply 1) Would also apply if you consider how much is spent in the alternatives. Also there's the option of 3), buy one pre-built that you can put your family in (it's me, it's my car)   That said, I went on a ~500km drive the other day. I didn't use anything more adventurous than 3rd/4th gear at about ~3000RPM and 50% throttle and I was going as fast as anyone has any sense doing on a public road, with enough grip to the point where I didn't want to go any faster. I was obviously under the limit of the current car etc etc. MX5 with 2.5 N/A to achieve the same speed would be more fun for any road scenario. Maybe consider cams. I wouldn't boost it. The use case is just not there and it won't actually make the car more enjoyable unless you really do plan on wringing gears from 1st to 3rd (at least) at 100% WOT on a public road to 150+kmh.
    • Great if: 1. You had all of the money for everything else that is required  2. Lived in a country where you could actually do this and drive it legally on the road Sadly, neither applies to me As for the turbo, I am having second thoughts, mainly for engineering/registration legality reasons and insurance  Not saying I've finished doing stupid things that I probably should do to the MX5, but boost, and V8 engine swaps isn't on the cards Strange, but true
    • I like this page, better than that silly turbo kit   https://v8roadsters.com/product-category/engine-conversions/engine-conversion-lsx/engine-conversion-lsx-nc/
    • That would be my Shoei helmet
    • Yes shipping here can be a pain, was about to purchase timing belt replacement kit, but it tends to get expensive due to shipping (and customs if importing from non-EU which the UK now falls under).
