Iam allso in need of a shift light and would like to get an autometer one. About how much is the pencil type one and the control unit that goes with it ? How much for the larger type and the pill kit that u need ?

Insant are you happy with your pivot shift light. I presume it is the cigarett socket version. Allbeit I will go the smaller lamp.

its works ok but not as good as one that getting the actual rpm signal as an input

The pivot shift lamp, with the super tiniy small light which you can mount next to your wheel looks super sexy but it's not accurate.

It's just fun.. for a while.

I got mine from Autospeed.com, they're Australian and cheap and easy to deal with.

I had it installed for a track day and decided it was crap though, just not accurate enough, different on different days!!!! So I sold it cheap.

yes true, if the a/c is on or heater it flashes at different rpm's.
