ok, i have a late model r32 rb20det in my onevia (silvia with 180 front), it has F.E.T high capacity coil packs in it. I went to throw them in the laurel the other day and noticed that the plugs are different. The laurel has an early rb20det in it. Still a silver top though. The plugs on the ignitor are also different. Would i be able to cut the loom just after the ignitor on both engines and just switch them over and resolder them without any dramas???

any info would be great thanks.

Cheers

Jayson

You can probably just remove the wire / pin from the plug, and insert it into the plug on the other loom. Much safer and neater.

Remove the plastic guide around the pins. Then use a small screwdriver, or an opened out paperclip to lever up the retaining clip inside each pin locator slot. Then pull the wire and pin out the back of the plug.

interesting... what year is the laurel?

i'd be interested if you could describe the differences in plugs or whatever you stated in more detail...

Hey mate, the laurel is 89. I will get some pics of it this weekend.

The differences i can see between my rb20det and the laurel's

Turbo outlet pipe is a slightly different shape, cas are different, laurel's has a mitsubishi triangle like thing on it, coil pack plugs are different, ignitor plugs and the pack itself is slightly different, afm plug is also different. I'll see if i can suss out anymore info. oh also, it doesn't have a stock bov either, which i was surprised to find.
