been thinkin about getting a screamer pipe ..for the hell of it ..and put it on while i get the intercooler fitted ...although what daunts me is what will be the results ......the cars fairly loud now ..does get a bit of attention as it is .... but i just wanna replace the standard dump pipe to some more "beefer"

i've neva heard a screamer pipe on a car b4 ... well maybe ..i'm not sure what i'm listenin for

are there any down falls to it .....any like things to be aware of ..ie the screamer pipe making any flames or somthing?

but on the same token ..do u gain about the same power gains to a split setup? just not venting it to atmosphere ..

anyone have either one ... anycar ..doesnt matter . just wanna see what ppl have found with em ...... and if one or the other is worth buying over the other .....

thanks for your time.

Matt

i heard a screamer on a mates 180sx SR20 and it sounds rather ugly, leaks at idle so sounds abit wierd and once getting up it, it is amazing the noise that is produced, when racing him i cant even hear my own car. Seems to produce abit more top end, but i cant see there being any advantages over a split dump setup

i've got one on mine, its flaged so i can plumb it in if i want to.

If you want, ill take ya for a quick burn in my car so you can hear it???

Mines pretty loud as its coming of a big Ext Gate and has a pretty big pipe to boot.

I must admit, they are farking angry as shit when it comes on boost.

Real feral growl.

But after getting it plumbed back in today, i'd almost be tempted to leave it.

Screamer is good... but once you make it quiet, and with a big turbz, all you can hear is this crazy areoplane kinda noise when the turb is on song. And the car truely sounds faster i reckon

But depends on my mood i guess.

are there any down falls to it .....any like things to be aware of ..ie the screamer pipe making any flames or somthing?

while i think of it, evertime i give it a hard drive i get some funny smells :)

just as the red-hot air is hitting the underside.

Not damage being done though from my checking, but the smell is going slowly so it must be burning some shit off

yea ash would be sweet to actually hear one "first ear" ..... as i'm still weighting up my options for turbo ..either t04e wastegated or internal... i really just dont know ..i know there loud .. as everyone has said ..... but i'm used to hearing 370ci plus sprintcars at 15feet away rifle around a 1/4 mile dirt track .. more noise doesnt hurt .. much ..unless u over 128db ..(aka threshold of pain)

only concern is getting reamed by the jacks on a nite out somewhere minding my own burnouts .. i mean business.... :) ..but it happens as they say..

Matt

screamer means that you cant hit boost around other cars/people without everyone knowing for about a 2km radius. it is a bit of fun, but i was always planning on plumbing mine back to the exhaust.

oh and i dont think it would be that far away from the pain threshold :)

    • Unless things that you want to do include reference to time. Simple Boolean logic is only good for digital inputs or analogues that have been thresholded into digitals. But unless you also have a timer function available (which would more ideally be located inside the program, rather than being forced to implement a timer outside the ECU and bring it in as a seperate digital for every time delay you want to implement), then you can't do some of the things that you might want to do. My PLC ladder logics are obviously littered with program blocks, because that's easier than building it all in ladder gates, but the most frequent of those program blocks is a simple timer, because you actually can't otherwise do that in ladder at all.
    • Log voltage. I'm suspecting the alternator. Or even maybe a bad earth somewhere. ie, seeing as it is rev dependent, I am thinking it is alternator dependent.
    • Yeah so N1 and any other larger than factory pump are pretty famous for pumping the sump dry...obviously we don't often get to spend 20 or 30 seconds at high rpm/full noise on the road so I'd still be suspicious that is what is happening here.
    • You are also getting pressure dips on gear shifts. They're just not dipping as far, but they're dipping quite below the amount of oil pressure you should be seeing, for how much RPM drops.   It quite little could be the oil pressure relief valve is starting to stick open a little/is slow to close.
    • Can you log battery voltage, and TPS, and put all four of those into a single image (even as split graphs)?   The oil pressure drops aren't following RPM as such. I'm intrigued if you may have a ground loop between different sensors. With the engine not running, log your sensors and for example cycle the throttle pedal. See if any sensor values flutter or move about. This won't be a perfect test either as the ECU won't be cycling all of its actuators like it would be while running. What EMTRON do you have? Do you have a link to the wiring guide for that ECU?
