Hi Guys

My pride and joy is up for sale. If you only want the best, then look no further.

The car was imported by myself and complied by Sydney Compliance Centre. It was registered last year in April.

The car came in COMPLETELY STOCK, it looked just like it came out of the factory lines. The mods have all been done by myself and the car has been kept in pristine condition since I have owned it. Services are done every 5K with Mobil 1 oil + oil filter changes every time. Spark plugs changed at 10K intervals also. It had a genuine 44K on the odometer when it came in, now it has 66K.

Before I list the mods, this car also came with the GTR Vspec diff as a factory limited edition option! (it has the 'SLIP' and 'A-LSD' lights on the tacho) Very few GTST's recieved this out of factory. It has rego till April 2005.

With regards to the mods, here is a list:

*HI-FLOWED turbo (bigger steel wheels, ported pipes. capable of running 20psi+)This turbo was hi-flowed by Pulse turbocharging (similar hi-flow work like GCG)

*17 inch GT-N RAYS wheels with 70%+ treads (the RAYS wheels look brand new! to buy new, its over $3K+ just for rims)

*3" Turbo-back stainless steel exhaust + 3" hi-flow cat (custom job done by Hi-Tech mufflers, and it sounds awesome!)

*HKS Pod filter

*Hybrid front mount 600x300x76 intercooler

*HKS Hipermax II adjustable suspension(almost new! $3900K to buy newis cheapest I've seen)

*4 X 6.5inch Kenwood spilts and JVC MP3 tuner

*QuikTrak Alarm

*EL white dials which light up blue

*Apexi 60mm EL white boost guage (lights up blue and matches the speedo console)

*Nismo strut brace at front, factory rear strut brace

The car has never been boosted over 11psi, as it needs PFC or can try with SAFC to tune, since timing gets retarded if asking for more boost. This was assessed @ unigroup engineering and the car was dyno'ed there also. The car pulled out 201rwkw@11psi! (I have sheet)

When we ran 15psi boost, the total power dropped to 192rwkw@wheels bcoz of ECU retarding the timing. If you only want a mild-mid setup, then no more work is needed on the car, as it runs perfect and without any probs WHATSOEVER! if you want to get the potential out of the car, then PFC would be best. The turbo hasnt been doing any hard work, as it can handle much more boost!

This car is absolutely immaculate and in A1 condition throughout, it is therefore priced ACCORDINGLY. If you add up all the expensive mods on the car, you'll find you are getting a bargain, as you can pickup most standard series 2 for around $22-23K and then spend about $10k on top MINIMUM to get to these mods currently on the car. It is a regretful sale, but I am starting a business and I'll be needing the funds.

The price is $26900. Genuine interest only please!

cheers,

Michael

hey dude

thanks!

actually this car got its cat put in just a little while before i got the contact for the CATCO cats. it was done when the car was getting complied in April '03. i worked at the compliance place, and they never put the 3" cats on GTSTs and other cars, just GTRs, but of course i was an exception :P

the cats they used to buy were Carsound back in the old scheme, as they were cheaper, so that is whats on my car.

now they use the catco cats under the new scheme, they are more expensive, but they always pass emissions (they need to test emissions under new scheme before passing the car) and are a better design for maximum flow anyways :)

i believe the car is sold? (that right michael?) not surprisingly, i think it was the first person to see it, bought it :D You can just tell from the pics and what's been done to it.

is a beaut of a car :D

Yes it has been sold

When i first saw the pics it was like wow, then i went to take a look at it personally and i have to say WOW

I have spent all my savings on this car but im happy with the purchase.

I have to thank michael for keeping this car in such a excellent condition.

Yes the car is SOLD now. Thanks to all you guys who have commented on it, appreciate it a lot!

I am very sad to see it go, i couldnt believe the car is driving away, and im not in it. I wish Pheap (DVS-80R) all the luck in the world with it. it should be an even bigger beast soon, as he's planning to make some nice performance changes on it.

The wheels, suspension and turbo are all for sale, as they have been taken out(except for turbo, should be out in a few days).

cheers,

Michael

    • That's the thing....the basics of fuel and ignition are deceptively simple.....getting it to behave like factory in all conditions after airflow mods is way more complex. Newer cars like the V37 are all about modifying the standard ECU which is about a billion times more complex than they were 20 years ago, with a bunch of parameters affecting others
    • The larger TB I had on the SS was a pain to get to idle right, but, that was cable In the end they just raised the idle up a couple of hundred RPM so it was happy idling away either in gear or in park (slush box life) I'm curious on how my NC will idle with the new intake, larger TB, and cams that are currently going in/on, but I have faith that MX5 Mania will sort this "electronical" "black magic" out the best they can in the tune with a electronic TB Sometimes I wish I knew more about the intricacies of tuning, but most of the time I don't because I know it would hurt my brain 🤣
    • That's the thing. Cam is smaller than before.. though the old cam was +6 degrees advanced. We're talking huge changes here, the narrowbands want to trim out 20% of fuel and pull the (wideband) idle to like 16.0 AFR or such. One side is a little more trimmy than the other. Think along the lines of ~20% to ~15-18%. Unfortunately my scouring of the internet hasn't really found anyone with this issue. People either just disable NB's or have them wildly different, where one is -20% and the other is +20 or 0 (i.e a sensor is just dead/wiring is just busted). Turning them off and relying on the base map only results in the wideband reporting at about 14.0 with the Varex closed. It'd be a little leaner (closer to 14.7ish) with the Varex open. I know I can just change the switch points so that the narrowbands agree with the wideband, but it's still odd. Both of them are reading voltage, it's just that they're reading quite high mv, in the ~800 region. It's just odd. This was with the IAT fudged to report it was about ~22 degrees which is my guesstimation of the temperature in the room. I have an OEM sensor ready to try tonight, which is slow and crap - but .. worked last time I used it. Sadly I am aware that idle tuning with the big TB is going to be a PITA and I look 'forward' to many hours spent stalling or stumbling idle or delving into drivability things.
    • The GTR strut brace clears the new manifold.. by about 0.5mm. So this means I need to buy an OEM GTT Strut brace (again), which will clear the new manifold, but not the bonnet vents. I guess I can sell the GTR Strut brace with the bonnet with the vents as a package deal as someone will need this one day. So my choices are vented bonnet but no strut brace, or GTR Bonnet with OEM brace (which I have to buy) but is bright red instead of the same colour as the rest of the car, which means the entire front end of the car will just be red until it goes back to paint jail. In other news the engine starts and doesn't leak. Why both O2 narrowband sensors think the tune is rich AF I do not know. The idle is also pretty shitty and my expensive IAT sensor from the USA is dead. The car sounds awful. But I assume or at least hope this is due to the many exhaust leaks, and the concrete garage it is in, sitting there with 0 intake bolted to it, and no bonnet or panels or anything to stop the induction/intake sound which is about 200db.
