Thats so weird. At the sydney dock they have jump start packs and they take one with them when you go to retrieve the car. I'm sure this happens all the time and that's why they are prepared.

They probably have something similar in Melbourne, but I figured that by the time I chased them up it'd probably be quicker to grab my own battery. I was also under a bit of time pressure from the wife who had to be back for an appointment at 2:00pm. It worked out in the end.

I (finally!) picked up my car today as well. But it was from bond storage (due to the broker going bust). Unfortunately, having sat around for over six months has seen some damage and some parts go missing. Some I didn't really care about, some that are costly and important:

- ECU (Apexi)

- twin 044 fuel pumps

- twin Z32 afm's + piping and filters

- 5" tacho (was going to throw it out anyway)

Also had a number of scratches and dents that weren't there before.

Still very pleased about getting the car (finally!), despite the missing parts and damage as I was planning on a new ECU and paint work anyway.

That both sucks and blows. Mate, I don't know how you can be so philosophical about it all, but it's good that you are. You must have a happy life with not letting sh1t get you worked up. I would be fuming, and getting ready to go down there and :uzi:

Doesn't suprise me that things went missing at the bond storage yard. The dock seemed a lot less dodgy looking to me, everything is out in the open with security and etc. The bond storage yard i saw was completely dodgy.

Out the back of a warehouse in a dust bowl with basically no fences and people coming and going all day long. The employees themselves were pretty shocking as well. There is need for reform in that industry.

amen to that!

Great to hear you finally got your car, I'd be climbing the walls if I had to wait months like you did just to get it out of storage - so near and yet so far. Who could predict that a broker would go broke ?? and it's probable that other businesses relying on them have gone to the wall because of it

Bummer about the parts and extra damage, but you sound positive and it's a great feeling finally having the car safe in your garage

picked up my car yester day after 10 MONTHS waiting for it...

now i have to get 2 rust spots fixed before it can pass blue slips (theres more money i have to spend). im soooooo happy i have it but pissed off because i have to fork out more money

oh yeah, and i really appeciate the wharfies for stealing my gear knob and cd stacker

im using their reccoemened perth agent Bill Famlonga.

I was going to but it was sooo easy to do all of it myself. It took about 2 hours of my time and cleared it with no dramas, took the car thru quarantine with no dramas and drove the car home no dramas! Personally I found greater satisfaction in doing it myself because what I wanted done got done, without having to worry about anyone else in the middle. My car arrived on a Thursday night at Freo, I had the shipping paid for first thing Friday morning, Customs Papers were submitted for processing by 9:30am Friday morning, Customs cleared the car by midday Monday and I organised a quarantine inspection for Tuesday morning. Car got washed and passed quarantine and I was driving the car home by 1pm Tuesday arvo. Too easy!

Where was the bond storage yard? Was it Hobbs Bros?

No, it was Sydney Bond Storage on Bourke Rd Alexandria. This place looked dodgy as it had 3 or four different entrances; the car was left outside in the dirt.

Reform is definitely what this industry needs.

We are not sure at what point things went missing due to the car being at the Brisbane docks for 6 months and then at the bond storage yard for a week.

Oh, and did I mention that the front lip spolier was also inside the car and not where it should be. Also, the rear Nismo lip spoiler had two thirds of it inside the car too.

I know, but after waiting for the car since June 2003(!) I have learnt to be patient. It arrived here in March and I finally got it yesterday. It's been a long wait, but it will definitely be worth it :)

I don't know about having a happy life...hey, I just broke up with my fiance 2 hours ago! But the GTR will definitely put a smile on my dial :)

My god that's a helluva long time....no one could have predicted the broker going broke (sick joke in there somewhere).....hope it all works out for you....

Congrats to the ppl who got their beasts !! good to hear apart from the bits going missing :D i think my ebc will go bye byes

I still cant find out if my car is on its way or not :|

Nothing was missig from my car, so you might be fine.

Can't you confirm with your broker that its on the boat ??

Some pics:

I have to say that looks great even though it's missing bits on the inside. The front and rear lips may have been removed and placed inside the car by the supplier to make shipping safer as they are easy to damage.

How did you last so long without having the car!?
