What would you classify an HR31 as?

Following on from the "what would you classify a DR30 as?" thread,and it's ensueing debate,I thought this one would be interesting....

The HR31 is the next generation of the Skyline,yet quite different in character to the DR30.....

So what do we reckon?

personally though i don't see the fuss about the HR30 and prefer the HR31.. just for looks. But this is just my opinion. Everybody's varies.

I thought they were shite from the write ups they get, but then I saw one in the flesh at nispares and promptly changed my opinion. Had Gold Watanabe's and was black. Looked real tough. Looks sooo much better than the sedan

Yeah, they can look really nice done up and a certain toughness that is lacking in the latter models - and the coupe is a different beast to the aussie sedan that is for sure.

Love to have one, one day as maybe a 2nd car.. but at the moment I'll have to settle for a black r32 and my rather worn aussie R31..

Well I voted it a GT. Thats my opinion of the cooking variety JDM R31.

I have the GTS-R though which is completely different to the normal GTS-X.

Agreed they are much 'softer' in character than the DR30's,but I don't know about "just a family car" (Predator) Maybe the Passage,but the coupe is hardly family!

haha, just think they can easily be confused with the aussie cars even though they are quite different throughout.. the "non-educated" motoring population wouldn't know the difference between an imported HR31, and local R31 to be honest. Anyhow, just stirring really

What makes it completely different apart from cosmetic ( exterior & interior ) differences, apart from the rb20det-r?

R31's can look tougher than '30's but everything else seems softer

Just read up on the GTS-R, that has to be a sports car, if a car has been messed around with that much by the factory I don't know how it could just be a GT.

GTS-R is a homologation special like like a Cosworth RS-500, and I wouldn't call that a sports car. Sports cars are small, light and have an emphasis on handling

Lambo's, Ferrari's and Porches are often between 1400kg and 1700kg and they are definitely sports cars. The 350z track is definitely a sports car and it weighs in at ~1450kg.

I think the GTS-R is lighter than that.

I would class an RS500 escort/sierra as a sports car. They were total animals and were uninsurable in the UK.
