hey guys, has anyone installed very low springs on an R33?

i just got a set of superlow kingsprings but from looking at my guards i dont think they will fit back over the wheels once the car is dumped, so if anyone has installed them do you you need to roll the guards or will they fit ok, i have fairly wide veilside wheels on the front too.

i think im also going to need aftermarket shocks, maybe GTR's? as the ride will get very sloppy aswell.

G'day Andrew,

How low are the superlow's ?? If you lowering your car 25mm or more then you'll need new shocks. This is cause the sweep of the shock is changed and it will be operating outside the normal range of movement, plus the fact that the valving will be all wrong for the new springs :P

In my old TX5 (don't laugh :( ) I changed the springs (30mm lower), drove around for about 12 months with them. In that time the shocks were rooted ! I ripped them out and the shock would compress under their own weight....

Oh, and GTR shocks won't fit in the back of a GTS-t :D They have a different mount on the bottom....

Are you putting the springs in yourself ?

J

yeah, supafly_skyline is gonna help, which is good.

i was gonna put them for a few weeks just to enjoy the lowness, then put my other lowered springs back on till i got replacement shocks.

dont know how low they are, just superlow king springs.

the guy that owned them said the car sat at about $2 coin height with an afermarket front bar, (R33 GTR) so hopefully it will be slammed on mine, but i just dont think i'll be able to turn, lol.

Hahaha, that's damn low !!!

My old car, when it had the JIC's in it sat at dead on 100mm clearance, that was a pain in the butt. Would scrape on everything. Couldn't park in most driveways, had to park on the street when I visited some people :D

If you go too low be prepared to go through tyres really fast. You'll be chewing the inside edges really badly due to the camber being right out of wack :D

I was going to suggest that you get a wheel alighnement after you put the superlow's in, but if they are as low as your talking about you'll have to get a camber kit installed to get enough adjustment out of it to fix the camber....

Are these GTR springs or GTST springs? If GTR springs in GTST, the front will be higher than the rears, R33 GTR has 200 kgs more weight, mostly carried by the front springs. :D

dont know, id assume GTR as they were on a GTR originally.

Ooops, not only will they be higher than the rears the GTR spring rate will be too high for a GTST.

how much am i looking at for a camber kit jay?

~$100 per corner fitted, the rears are more important than the fronts as the dynamic camber change is greater.

the aftermarket shocks will set me back about $400

That's per pair, plus 10% GST for anything decent.

wheel alignment should be cheap as too.

Depends on how far the camber, toe and caster are out by. Around $150 should cover it.

Hope that helps :D

You don't always need to go to coilovers to get good results. Usually the secondhand coilovers that are up for sale are the Jap branded ones, and they are too firm for a decent ride :D

Plus, even if you lower the car heaps with coilovers, you'll still need to get the camber kits installed to fix the huge amount of negitive camber you'll have :)

If you lower your car heaps and do it so it doesn't chew threw tyres your up for a fair bit of money. And then if you go too far down you have to put up with a not so nice ride comfort and handling, scraping on the ant's as you go over them :) , and being harrassed by the cops.

But they do look hot when they are dumped :D
