in the end a terminal speed means dick

and until you can get a 13.7 dont be one of those people which whinge, but my xxx wasnt working. or i havent had xxxx tuned yet.

the time you got yesterday is how fast your car is (whether you like it or not) and regardless of what you plan to do next.

youve asked questions here and people have tried to answer you, but for some reason you believe that youre capable of a 13.7 with 10psi and an exhaust. there is alot of skyline experience on these forums, and believe it or not you are wrong

Terminal speed doesn't mean anything?!?!? Ummm, yeah it does tiger.

Terminal speed gives a very clear indication of the power your car is producing as well as the time you could expect in "perfect world" conditions.

Yes, the time you get is the time you get, but knowing your terminal speed means you should know how fast you could potentially go...gives you more to aim for!

yeah i agree terminal speeds can indicate the ET in a perfect world. BUT we all know skylines arent the easiest cars to get off the line, then yoiu also have to take into account the driver/weather conditions. in the end an ET is what you can stand by

All I can say guys is that because of the crap you've given me for running a 14.50 @ 103mph (when GOT BOOST ran a 13.7 @ 103mph) I am going to go beyond and out of my own way to make sure my car runs into the 13's on the current setup of pod filter, boost and exhaust. Wider tyres will be fitted, new clutch will be fitted and anything else in the suspension area that will increase the cars squat and ability to take off.

Ill agree but i wont be surprised if i dont crack 13s....my 14.0 was a fluke i think. It was my first run of 14 that day and i revved to 3grand, dumped the clutch and all i got was grip!! no wheel spin.... it was weird. after that it got real slippery :)

Still if the miracle grip thing happens again ill be happy. SAFC is the next mod on the list.

the speed attained will not show power produced from the car, since weight plays quite heavily on this time

if its a comparison between two same models (eg gts25t r33) then it will depend on the launch, gear change revs, time to change, basically driver ability etc etc

you can pull a quicker time with a lower mph, but that'll prolly be through how the car is tuned (eg use of s-afc vs no tune)

wed will be as perfect-a-world as you'll get ;)

No one has given you crap about running a 14.5.

Now read this carefully

All we are saying is that with your current setup you'll get low 14's not mid 13's say 13.7 that you keep spouting on about.

If you change your tyres to stickier ones ,change the suspension for traction etc etc just to prove us all wrong then you have changed your current setup...geddit?

We are all here to help you but you seem to know better and or won't listen.

Well I agree with those who say you get what you get and be happy with that till you run a better time.

It's tedious hearing ... oh my clutch was slipping .... or a hot babe walked past and i stalled ... etc etc :)

it is a way of calculating, however it makes many assumptions ie driver ability, weather conditions, suspension, track etc etc. that calculation suggests the best possible time so is usually wrong. as i said earlier the only numbers you can quote are those you can prove, not ones youve 'calculated'

I may have altered my tyres/suspension setup. But I will in no way have altered my power output. It will still be basically 0.8bar of boost, pod filter and cat back exhaust. I didnt whine or complain about my clutch slipping or my lack of grip, all I said is that once rectified I expect the car to be faster to the tune of possibly 13.7 seconds. Anyway, give me some time to investigate new rear rims and tyres, suspension bits and a clutch and I'll be back down at the drags.

No argument there Adam 32, just checking to make sure I had things straight.

I suppose this also brings up that lightening a vehicle will make some difference to the outcome, perhaps ditch some extra weight to try and get your times down - mmm shifting away from the terminal speed/ET thing a bit though:rolleyes:

suspension and tyre changes will definately help your 1/4

but we aren't having a go at ya mate :)
