Which Motor Upgrade/Transplant in an R32??

what d u guys think about, buying the basics, Exhaust, Front mount, Boost Controller, intake.... for the RB20 then progressing to a bigger turbo?

My question is really, if you buy a bigger turbo, and the motor eventually lets go, will the turbo, manifold etc be a basic bold on to an RB25 or RB30 latter on down the track..?? is it really a matter of of taking the turbo setup of the RB20 and fitting it to an RB25 or 30??

how interchangable are all these mods??

The RB20DET exhaust manifold will fit an RB25DET top end on an RB30 bottom end, obviously the turbo will too. But what is a big ass turbo on a RB20, is gunna be a small turbo on an RB30. I have used the same turbo (RB25DET turbo with ball bearing hi flow) on an RB20 and an RB25 Neo and it's about to go onto our Stagea (RB25DET non Neo). It made 225 rwkw on the RB20, 265 rwkw on the RB25 Neo and I expect around 200 awkw on the Stagea (less mods, auto, no Power FC).

So if you are happy with ~265 rwkw and boost at 2,500 rpm, then you could use the same turbo on an RB20 and an RB30. Personally I would sell it and buy something more suitable, but you don't HAVE to.

thanks, i gues the main issue is not wanting to buy components and then finding out later that they were only suited to the RB20, but what u have said sounds great.... i guess the only question is which computer 2 buy?????

i have a PFC on and RB25 which i reckon is perfect, i understand that the RB20 Power FC will work on an RB30 but not and RB25??? is this correct? or is there a better computer out there which will can be used on anything like a microtech, wolf 3D maybe??

Ahh no. In the R32 GTST we have an RB20DET Power FC running an RB31DET with RB26 top end. I just swapped ALL of the sensors off the RB20 onto the RB31. Obviously I used the fuel rail and the injectors that were in the RB20DET, being top feed they are easier to upgrade than the RB25 side feed anyway. The only issue with an RB25DET top end would be the VVT, so not really an problem.

I own an R32 Gts-4 sedan and was looking for about 280-300rkw. I was considering an rb25det transplant but am unsure about the price. Could any body give me a price range of what I would be looking at with the complete engine etc. installed? Thanks.
