Hi There,

Quick question.

I've done a bit of searching and can't find much info..

I'm going to install a front mounted I/C.

Question is: How do I take the front bumper off (R33 gts-t series 2)?

Is there anything I should know before I take it off (how easy is it)?

Also is it bolt's or clips holding the bumper on (and roughly how many??)?

Thanks for your help.

Cheers

Rob

Pull the grill out (clips on the back), there are plastic screws under there. there are from memory 2 10mm's under the front gaurd. You have to remove the plastic gaurd liner and there is a thin metal brace behind that on both sides. From memory that is about it besides uncliping the lights.

When fitting my FMIC we didnt need to remove the lights.

The grill is a bitch to remove, mind you it was bloody cold when we did it.

some clips are under the grill, two bolts either side just under the front of the quarter panel and 2 bolts on the underside either side holding the splash tray in place.

PS: yes mines a series two also

no clips under the headlights

3 plastic clips along centre top under grill

2 screws either end holding splash guard

2 screws either end securing bar

unplug fog/ind lights

It is an easy job.

There are two 10mm screws on each side, just in front of the wheel, remove all of these first, next there are two 14mm bolts that hold the thing to the car on each side. sort of behind the indicators, loosen the back two but don't completely remove them (makes it easier to put back on), completely remove the front two.

Slide the bar forward a bit so you can get your hands in to unplug the indicators, then lift the whole assembly clear of the car. If you need to separate the plastic bit form the metal bit there are several clips which are easily accessible now the bar is off the car.

Reverse the process to refit. Should take no longer than 5mins.

    • This is a simple swap when you reuse the RB20 loom and auxiliaries. I run a standalone, but if I remember right, using the RB25 ecu you only have 2 injectors to inverse.  There are many DIY's on this subject online, including this forum.
    • Surprisingly the D6000 is only $1999, I'm waiting for the BF/CM sales, and hoping to get one cheaper. D4000 is well priced, still outperforms the 13" SVS PB-3000 and is like 1/2 the price at $1699 RRP. I do watch a fair amount of movies, and listen to EDM, jazz, symphonies, etc. so the lower notes from a subwoofer are always appreciated. The front 8" stage, just doesn't provide you with lively feeling, even though they are pretty bassy for a pair of large bookshelves. Then again, these days it's just playing Wiggles, Blippi and Ms Rachel, another reason the 3m wide cabinet exists, to hide all the audio gear behind it. They used to sit on a nice pair of stands, but as you know, they make good baby traps too.
    • Granted, which is a solid reason why I don't have one. My floorstanders are only -2 dB at 22 Hz.  So they're still working down to <20 Hz. Which is no doubt part of the reason why my receiver shits the bed! That Tonewinner would be about double the cost though, so it's not apples and apples. There aren't many AU$1300 subs (that you can buy prebuilt, I'm ignoring what can be achieved by DIYing) that compete.
    • -6dB at 22Hz isn't that great, watch the data from the D6000 from REW
    • I'll just leave this here. https://www.adelaidespeakers.com/subwoofers.html TL loading, big power. They sound awesome. This is what I would buy if I was going to try to take the bass away from my floorstanders. Just go with the 12".
