damn

why don't the aussie government take the damn hint then and realise that there are so many jap cars here and being imported, that instead of making those puncy looking euro plates, make jap styled plates, they can make more money!

just my suggestion

aybee is right... the Japanese plates are of course proprty of the Japanese government so they want them back when the car is deregistered. It's normal proceedure anywhere so I don't know why people think Japan should let their plates be given to anyone who wants them...

They're big ugly things anyways... whats to like?

Can't you claim that you lost the plates and get more made up? This is in Australia though. I'm sure if you were keen the same could probably happen in Japan, claim the plates were damaged/lost then get an extra set. Only return one set. But that kinda begs the question...why...

there's a company in the US I'm tryin to get in touch with that make jap style plates... if you wanna check out what they look like pick up the latest Hot4's and check out the US Scene section where almost 50% of the cars have jap plates on em.

Hehehe! PWND! The kaji (Japanese character) for "Osaka" in that link is wrong!

It should be "大阪"....

... Geez they should've checked with the Japan forum before making that website! :P

maybe its the same as many of the states in Oz where you have to return the plates to their transport office to be destroyed?
I never had to... i bought a car with WA rego and I still have the plates.

the only reason I would have had to send them back to WA was if i wanted to cash in on the rego that was left, but i didn't bother cos it was only a couple of months.

so i got ACT rego, and put the WA plates in my garage...for what purpose i have no idea lol. I'm a horder
