I remember having a look through a members gallery on here and he had a photo of a physical lock that goes around the gearstick and clamps onto the actual part in the middle, im assuming you couldnt change gears unless you had the key to remove it, I pm'd him about it but never got a reply

Might be a good idea to deter amatuer thiefs I guess, has anybody heard of these or know where I could source one? I live in brisbane but I guess ill probably have to end up buying online if I find one..

thanks in advance

You could probably go to a locksmith and get them to order it in for you.

Dad's a locksmith and I remember he had a lock like that for his old Gemini.

If you want to deter amatuer theifs, id go for a good quality steering lock. 95% of the steering locks you see people using are easy to snap off. The one I got was thoroughly recommended by an experienced locksmith... I forget the brand name though.

It was around the $300 mark.

can someone please help and tell me where to buy these from?

in sydney

Check out "GT Gearlock" Might be along the lines of what you want. I've got one in my car and it's good security that doesn't take up space or look ugly.
