Trust filters are definitely a non oiled filter element..... i dont know of any shops in Melbourne but Advan Performance in Sydney stock these filters and could get you the replacement element without any problems.....

must be because they have a thing against AFM's. "Self cleaning" my ass..

are you saying AFMs self cleaning? thats only on the earlier model AFMs as i dont see any self cleaning wire on the 4 pin types (r32,r33). its only for cleaning dust and not the oil residue crap left by oil based pods

You can use degreaser [aerated kero] and then wash out with a hose in water.  Blow dry or air dry for a day or so, and 'viola, ze air filter she ez clean'.  Do it all the time, they are made to be reused.  Then you buy a priority brand air filter element oil and spray or tip approx. two tablespoons of oil onto the clean and dry filter and work it through the whole element.  You should have nil excess.  The oil is important, it traps the fine dust particles that the foam cannot filter out.  Best hint is to clean the element regularly [<5000km].  If you have oil leaving the filter, you have used too much.  The oil has to be throughout the filter, but not able to be squeezed out at all.  

These same principle filters are used everywhere [motorcycles, dozers, scrapers, trucks, 4wd, and cars].  They are a good product and work extremely well however they are open to abuse and neglect.  They do take some learning skills for the novice.  They breath freely, filter very well, and give years of fault free low cost service.  They DO NOT impede performance [they actually have superior breathing capability to many std filters].

Another reason for the filter being oiled is as a fire retardant for backfires etc, a non oiled filter will catch alight and burn [especially if there is fuel spitting back through the carby].  This reason is probably not so relevant for turbo vehicles, but is essential for motorcycles [i saw a m/c burn almost to the ground with a backfire and airfilter incident out on the roadside, no fire extinguisher, no water].

I run a HKS pod in the skyline, a foam Unifilter in the Hilux, a foam K&N in the TBS motorcycle, and a custom foam filter in my other TSS m/c [both road bikes], and they are all serviced and oiled as above with nil probs.

No probs, glad to be able to give something back to the forum [on a topic I am conversant with]. Usually I am whinging and asking for help, so its a small change to be on the other side.

Remember, don't use just any oil, it must be a faom air filter oil. And don't use any foam, the foam on your filter is an open cell and probably a dual or triple layer one - in each successive layer the open cell size is smaller. Therefore big dirt gets trapped on the outside, medium dirt in the middle, and fine dust is stopped by the last layer.

Just make sure your filter is meant to be oiled [not all filters are engineered to be oiled, but the majority of foam filters are]. Get on the www and check out the manufacturers site for details.

hello boys and girls. im in the process of cleaning my air filter at the moment. and its just drying now. im not sure if i should oil it or not? its a blizt suspower LM coretype. i have no idea if i should or shouldnt oil it. i did last time and it caught heapssss of shit witch i guess is a good thing but yeah... unsure :) any helps is apprichiated! (wasnt good at english :()

They are DRY element like the TRUST ones, jpas usually dont use oiled elements as they know how much AFM's hate the stuff.

The Replacement blitz cores are cheap and can usually be got overnight if you get stuck.
