Why can't you get insurance?

Insurance companies won't let me.

nothing can stop a theif if he wants it bad enough...

Let's assume the NSA/CIA whatever isn't after your car - then most of the best protection is the best we can do. And that is what it's all about.

Just because someone, if determined enough, is able to steal your car doesn't mean you should leave your keys in the ignition. If we both had the same car, parked next to each other and a thief wanted to steal that particular model, all things being the same if I had a club lock and an alarm and you didn't - which would the thief go for?

I think the point of my thread was to see what was the best thing possible in terms of security to, hopefully, result in the thief thinking twice about my car and going for a less defended car.

if you knew where the tracker was ( or even that the car has one in it ) yes you are able to disarm it or even cut it and throw it away .

a good installer will put it in a place where its very hard to get to it even if you know or suspect that the car has one in it . in my car i can tell you where it is even where its connected and with normal tools ( spanners sockets screwdrivers ....) you will not be able to get to it , you will need a grinder to get to it .

what thieves usualy do they steal the car take it and parked it in a public car park ( even on the road ) for a day or so if no one takes it away they know there is no tracker in it .

it will probably take that long with quiktrak by the time they got in touch with the owner then check it out .

with a self monitoring tracker like ezytrak you know immediately someone has broken in to your car long before they even started it and as soon as they move it you immobilise it with your phone .

you know if they tow it away ,it has tow away detection so you know they actualy moving it but they havent started it , you cant stop them but you know where its going the speed its traveling at all times . if you have the software and a laptop you can see it moving along the road .

thats the best protection you can get , you can actualy catch the thieves in the act .

good protection for car jacking as well , you just give them the car and as soon as they move away you cut out on them .

Buy a gaurd dog and leave it with your car at all times  :wizard:

dont need one , i can give you my keys and the remote and 8 hours time , if can start my car she is all yours but i can assure you you wont start her .

the only way you can take her is tow away and then i will have you tracked and i'll know where you are .

i can tell on what side of the street my car is parked with the tracker i have .

You arnt sitting in the backseat with a baseball bat are you wrxhoon

No, i agree.....tracker installed and box welded into the car somewhere....no acess unless the car is stripped, and taken to with a grinder...all comes down to how much time the thief needs....

no i wont be siting in the back seat .

a few years ago i had a gtir and i had an imobiliser( pre tracker days ) in it very simple one at that but not a mass produced one that every thief knows about it .

the car was parked in the sydney fish markets all night , they broke in to it and must have spent all night trying to get it going , they cut the siren off bypassed the alarm tha t it had in it when i bought the car and when they couldnt start it they pulled all the dash out, ( they unscrewed it not busted it ) obviously they wanted the car intact , at the end when the couldnt get it started they pushed it for about 200 mts and then the must have got shitty and kicked all the panels in even the roof but they wlked away empty handed .

they didnt even bother to take the head unit the just left it on the floor .

i wish i had the tracker in that car ...........

thats why i said i would give him 8 hours to start my gtr , this immobiliser i have in the r is much better than the one in the old gtir .

now dont ask me to make one for you the answer will be a big noooo , because then every one will get to know them .

even when i sell my car i just take it out so no one finds out how it works .

nothing can stop a theif if he wants it bad enough...

But this argument works both ways: if you want to protect your car "enough", you can. Build a Fort Knox-alike, 24-hour armed guards, sealed vault, minefield, etc.

The argument that nothing can stop a thief who wants your car bad enough is not a good reason to skimp on car security.

The argument that nothing can stop a thief who wants your car bad enough is not a good reason to skimp on car security

Your reading it out of context....

I was saying it in the way that a) Get the best possible alarm system available. Use everything you can to hold up the criminal from either stealing your car, or stealing anything from it....

Which means the more time they have to spend disarming, clipping wires, opening bonnets/boots etc....gives you more time to react in order to save your car...

I said the above quote in reference that if you DO have everything possible available to you, done to the car to make it "Fort Knox"....a thief (there are professional thieves in society, not just the local Fcuk wit who takes your mommas daily driver to get a lift back home....) will be able to steal your car IF they want it bad enough...

So is your car worth all the hassle to steal if you got everything possible to protect it? With the average car only being std - moderate upgrades, you have nothing to worry about....

dont need one , i can give you my keys and the remote and 8 hours time , if can start my car she is all yours but i can assure you you wont start her .

Why? What have you got in your car?

As sigsputnik said you still got to have some protection just because some belive that nothing can stop a thief who wants your car bad enough.

as i posted before i'm not saying how i do it but i can assure you if i gave you my keys and the remote + 8 hours you will not get the engine going . even if you have another ecu to put in there ( some thieves do that to bypass your immobiliser ) it won't start .

the only way to steal my car would be to tow it away and then i'll know its moving , its speed and where its going and if it stops where it stopped .

quiktrak is useless outside sydney metro. you get north of hornsby on the freeway and goodbye car you cant track it anymore.

GOod idea wrxhoon. I might start reading up on all the things that make a car tick and make my own also. Put it in on top of the quiktrak.

Thanks.

I was just wanting more information about the EzyTrak tracking system that you've mentioned, a site that I could go to, or even a phone number I could contact them on for further information. I have tried to pm you, as such your Inbox is full. Thanks.

thanks for letting me know , i've cleared my box now .

http://www.rojone.com/bandit/ezitrak.html

if you like the system pm your number and i'll get michael to give you a call he can tell you anything you want to know about it .

if you want one in your car he will do you a good deal and good installation or you can install yourself .

take ya fuse box with you.....

interesting u say that coz my friends silvia got broken into and the theif opened the hood and cut all the wires to the engine fuse box and ripped the box out. totally screwed him over as it was an extremely tight carpark behind a cafe, a tow truck couldn't reach it and lets just say, the car sat there for months lol.

the homo's didn't even steal anything from the car, just totally immobilised it.

    • You’ll want to have the block drilled and tapped to suit 1/2in head studs and the head for the same. How much power do you intend to make?
    • Sorry for resurrecting an oldish thread Not much has happened in the past year since the last update. The car did another 1000 miles or so and failed the MOT for the first time in October (failed on tyres which had been advised for a couple of years) In October the car got put up for sale and was removed in November due to no interest, being so close to christmas it was to be expected. The roads were dry in February so I decided to tax it early and get the new tyres fitted.   Fast forward to April, I got someone in to give the car a good clean after sitting for the winter.                                 The car got re-advertised and today (Saturday 3rd May) the car sold. The new owner is planning a GTR conversion at some point and a respray in the same pearl white. It's bitter sweet, it's a shame to have the car sit there for half the year and then only do 1000 miles. The kids are growing too quick and space in the back is getting limited. It's been a great 6.5 years of ownership
    • And if you want more power, more reliably, and cheaper, go get the Aussie RB... The 4L Barra and put that in instead.
    • No cats will keep discolouring the rear bar. Sends white paint a weird yellow stain. Cut and polish normally gets it out, but you'll be doing that every fortnight I found.
    • Both heads will be equally reliable or unreliable depending on what you do to them.  Stock the RB26 head will flow more. You have access to the stock intake ITB manifold on the RB26 cheaply which flows really well(1000hp+).   Arguably more aftermarket support for RB26, though in Aus we love our RB30 SOHC heads too.    The only downsides to the RB26 head is if you have a VL commodore and want to keep the SOHC look.  Where you may have an issue is drilling out the rb30 block for the bigger head studs but if you are building a big power motor you'd probably put bigger studs on the SOHC head too.  This is just about finding a good machine shop, sometimes easier said than done.  RB30 head worked can make big power just like a Rb26 head, so really it actually more comes down to what your preference is for your car.  People now even making billet versions of both.
