nearly there on owning house and car (on same loan) i am just not going to think about how much money that will clear up each week (i think a holiday to the land of performance parts is next on the agenda!!)

Getting a loan makes a lot of sense to me. I pay a small amount *compared to my income* monthly and it works out perfect for me. at the end of my loan, i'll get another loan & sell my car and get a new one, meaning i'll get a better car every x years. I plan to end up buying a r34 GTR.

Another shock is that Comm bank gave me my personal loan being 18 employed at my first job Casually *been working there only 2 weeks* & with no guarantor. My friends were quite surprised with the conditions that i got the loan, so was I.

I worked it out with my savings and possessions i could afford the loan anyway so the bank could always get their money back if i was to loose my job.

here is a new one. Novated lease. You can buy the line (has to be from a dealer though) and lease it every month through work which covers all petrol and repairs. The repayments ($540 per month) are taken out before tax which means for those of you into the 48c to the dollar mark only see a loss of around $250 month. Three years and you have the option to buy the car at residual or sell it (eg Residual on an R34 with an original purchase price of $30k is 12k which is less than market value) You can then buy it off the company (in my case government) for 12k and sell it for say 22k in 3 years time which recovers the majority of your outlay over the last 3 years. Basically everybody wins and you get a new car every 36 months. But you need to be earning into the 48c tax bracket for it to be worth doing

yes well i'm not quite in the financial position to make that option viable.

i have a car loan which is the only way i could get the car i wanted when i wanted it and i have paid back 69% in thirteen months and will own it in another 7 months at which point i will have a party like i do every time i pay a car off. :bananaman
