Putting a switch in line with the 4wd works sure, but you actually have to turn the car off to re-engage 4wd.Has anyone developed a method where you can toggle between 4wd and 2wd without turning the car off.

Why you ask. At the moment at the strip I'd have to start the car with the switch in 2wd drive in , do a burnout, reverse back, turn the car off, put the switch in 4wd, and start the car again for a 4wd run.

Hi ricknismo

Can I ask, why do you have to do a burnout? You may think I'm a big wimp for suggesting this, but with the right tires on your gtr you should get very little/if any wheel spin. (I always drive around the water, and so do some other gtr racers).

Paul and I have played around with the 2 wheel drive alot, but have always had the same issue of having to turn the car off again to get it back into 4 wheel drive. Like doughboy says there is obviously some kit you can install to make this happen. But I prefere to save the rubber.

I have a 33 gtr and just got a 32 gtr...when racing the 33 I often had to wait up to 2 hrs for the next race. The traction compound they put down seemed to make me spin more with cold tyres, I was thinking a skid might heat em up.

HKS Electronic Torque Controller - get it through Nengun or Greenline. An additional module is the EDA - Electronic Drag Adapter which allows constant 4WD (your choice of torque split) up to a specified speed, then it reverts to 2WD (for less drag/resistance).

HKS have discontined the R33 model, but you can still get the R32 + EDA. There are a few other brands like Field but I have had no experience with them.

i don the same as steve, flip the switch fro rear wheel drive, then all you have to do while your reversing is flip it back and stop for a second, 4wd will kick in automatically. thats what i do eeverytime no need to turn the car off

i totally took out the switch and just using the fuse, if i take it out to make the 4wd light come on..it will not go out again when i put the fuse back in and drive.

I have to actually turn the motor off and start it again.

my r32 i would just drive along

turn the engine of for a second and turn it back on... this is like flicking the switch and because you restart the car while it is moving the 4wd tuns off

so no just keep rolling and light up the rears

then when i came to a stop again the 4wd would kick back in

under the bonnet, left hand side, there is a little black box which hopefully should have some boxes and writting on it.

Open it up, its the 3rd one back on the right side which by looking at the lid should be Alternator at the front, Main next and 4wd third.

Yank that sucker out and you'll save $50 on a dyno run and cut a mean skid
