i think all Ceffy owners in Australia should gang up and help keep the prices of Cefiros steady. I see ppl offering to buy nice Cefiros for 7-8k thinking coz thats what it costs in Japan.. they dont take into account the price of compliance, rego etc.. like inark and schnaped_seconds FS thread on nissansilvia.com.. all these ppl think Cefiros are worth less than bloody 180s or sumthin, we have 2 extra doors ffs :rofl:

Two extra doors, two extra cyls, and a HELL of a lot better loooking car!

I saw one up for sale the other day for $17k, not as many mods as mine, pretty tidy tho. I think that is probably more realistic.

stock ceffies dont look good.

nor do stock 180's.

last i checked 'mainstream' ads for ceffies ie. autotrader or something autostyle was selling a ceff for $20k..<<< wasn't worth it imo but yeah - grossly overpriced so i guess they must hope someone will buy it.

Insider tip... changes are being lined up to make sure 1990 cars are no longer as easy to import. Source... high ranking official from DOTARS.

Should mean the cost of a ceffy should stay steady.

i know this has already been touched on a fair bit but I recon its shvit that they are going to change the 15 year rule. So many nice cars out there and thats how I bought my cefiro and I also bought in a tt300zx before this. Now if they clamp down on imports you will get bog stock car and will have to start from scratch to build up. I dont really care if I loose maybe a few grand on a car, if any money at all. There is no way we will be able to bring in our own cars at this stage and if you can then it will be stock as a rock, complianceing cost will soar etc etc. show me a good side to the argument as I cant see any really.

Wellll what it means is performace parts suppliers might actually be able to make some money. Sure its all over protected, and I think its to stop stupid stuff coming over. My thoughts anyway.

Yeah thats what I recon. makes me super frustrated, always comes back to money I recon. Money talks and bulsht walks. I almost guarentee that I will never buy a commodore/falcon at least not for an extended period anyhow. If its dodgy dealers they are worried about then they only have themselves to blame for not regulating it properly, its also the luck of the draw but if you have a regulatory body in japan to watch it then there shouldnt be a problem. I just hope when I get my next car I can bring something that I want in rather being dictated to me as to what I can and cannot bring in.

Anyhow I am hoping the 15 year rule stays alive and we get the toyota aristo under raws thats the dream car anyhow.

not necassarilly a "good" side as such, but food for thought,

it's put in place to protect local industry, ie: steer people towards buying locally owned / made product, without it it's a section of economy our country would miss out on with local industry being supported, however the import market is just that. an IMPORT MARKET, it's a market of people that choose to go towards the imported cars,

The government believes that by making it more difficult to import cars from japan will help solve the gaps which are left in our shoddy economy, however the mport of cars only makes for a small percentage of the australian dollar and doens't effect it that much realistically

like most things in this country, it's a backhanded - deal from the government to large corporations to protect each other.
