Hi All

I bought myself a new Century 57 battery this afternoon, and when i went to fit it tonight, the terminals wouldn't fit! they're too small!

I managed to totally mutilate one of them trying to get it on, so now i need new, larger terminal clamps! ;) where can i get them, and how hard are they to put on? i take it you just squeeze the end of the clamp around the wire using some pliers or something?

Do you always "make it fit"?

Why don't you simply take the battery back and exchange it for one that has the correct sized terminal posts on it? Much less of a headache than what you've been through. But you've probably also damaged the battery, so you can't take it back.

i dont' want to take it back because the battery (and the corresponding battery clamp size) is more suited to a scooter or a motorbike (thanks dodgey caryard), and i have problems where the car doesn't idle well, has trouble running too many things at once (i.e. lights, radio and power windows etc)

I recently purchased a new Century battery which had BOTH sizes of terminal post on it - quite useful for jump starting, amongst other things. I'm still using the factory "small" terminal clamps, and the car starts and runs just fine.

If you are having trouble running too many things, a new battery is not really the answer, you probably need a bigger capacity alternator.

the battery thats in the skylines is so small its totaly useless .

i use a sealed battery ( like odyssey but without the price tag ) it has screw terminals and use the stock clamps , i just put the screw where the original clap screws are .

the battery is $130 and its like the odyssey 1200

it has to be a sealed battery or we might find pieces of you everywhere.

thats true , in japan they use the breather hose like we have in the jetskis here but as far as i know you cant get these vented batteries here so yea you have to use sealed .
