i am wondering if the fuel efficiency of the car is much better if u set the boost to the minimum ... i find i'm using way too much petrol ... i don't know how much yet exactly my milage is yet but i'm pretty sure its not very good ... i'm wondering if its better to put the boost down if i wanted to go further ... and also any other tips on improving the mileage without any really big major changes to the car??

Hi hippy.

I am interested in this as well. The first thing is to ensure your engine is in good mechanical condition, do a compression check.

Second thing is make sure it is tuned properly, and that everything is working. When was the last time you changed the spark plugs ? is the oxygen sensor actually working ?

Third, look at the whole car. Tyre pressures o/k, handbrake not dragging ? do you carry around a lot of heavy junk in the boot that you dont really need?

Lastly and most importantly is how you drive it.

well i've not had the car for very long at all ... a month or so ... its an auto so i've got overdrive on and i have what i'm pretty sure is a boost controller knob ... and i usually drive with the knob set to minimum ... and i must admit i do drive it pretty hard at times ... but mostly i try to drive with it in the lowest revs possible ... i do plan to get a check up on it soon ... what tyre pressure do u guys think i should be on considering that they are the standard 16's ... i've also got stock turbo/IC ... full 3" exhaust (i think) and hi flow air filter.

thanks again

yeh make sure tyres are at 32psi or whatever the manual tells ya. this will have a diff on mileage. if your engine is fine, the only real way to get better mileage is to modify your driving

also getting the AFs checked could be an idea. nissans run rich as std (for reliability rather than performance) so you could get a second hand AFC fairly cheap and lean out the AF mixture. this will give you better mileage and more hp
