yes i have to agree with all of u ? and even know krzysiu is about to go on his p and he has a 250 kw 33 is not sounding good? just know the fact he might be abil to drive and drive well at the age of 18 just got his p im sure we where all tempting to do stupid things in our cars at that age ? so its a wonder why it should be that any one on p;s dont have anything thing that has a turbo or v8 at that. it should be enforced or make people do a advance driveing course there is tomany people dyeing on the roads and its p plater thinking there the bomb ? ant they in for big shock yet there is some good p platers out there ? but its makeing to hard for us import drivers to go out and have a nice car and nice drive to injoy our rides as we are targets the min we take our wheels on the roads ?

It's a tricky one. I guess I feel the way I do as I lost my last car in an acident and I can tell you now it wouldn't of happened if I had more respect for the car but the real problem is how do you get respect for it if you cant drive it? Now I'm driving my new car I'm super carefull but still I get the urge just to get it a little sideways or just put the foot down and how can yo unot in such powerfull cars? I mean it's what they are designed for, to go fast!

Thats why I go to track days. I go as fast as I like without putting anyone in danger but myself and next weekend I'm goign to a driver training day to learn how to controll the car on the track. IMO it's by far the best idea.

Bass Junky mate i totally see your point and yea it's a fair point... but as you and i both know the way the law works all you do is go home put a stock turbo on get a RWC and then slap the T66 or what ever back on.... if it came down to actually stopping people from putting the turbo back on i would agree.. i have more power than I’m aloud and yea your right it's wrong but car came with it and I don’t go around hammering my anywhere and it does have the power to do it as well all know the skyline does and if i get pulled i will prob buy a stock turbo slap it on for a year till i off me p's and then put the other one back on... i got the car for it's looks and what not more than its power. Guess its not going to change and sure i will put up with it just would be nice to see the police and import drivers meeting at a point more than everyone being against each other...

and yes driving courses have to be the way to go and mate track and calder are the places to let yourself go and i dont agree more with going down in a safe environment to let go but not on the roads where others are at risk.....

fine you may have more experience on the roads because ur "older", its the minority of young p-platers who give the majority like myself a bad reputation.

I mean everytime u step into any car...no matter how much power...you can cause some serious damage if you do something stupid, any car is dangerous...just being a more powerful car increases the risk...

I mean how many p-platers have wrapped themselves around poles in less powerful holdens and fords...

I was a learner in my car...ive been to defensive driving courses, and i drive every single day...not once have i made a mistake, broken the speed limit excessively, or come close to an accident...i dont find the car a handful at all.

it also helps if youve paid for your car with ur own hard earned money saved up for 3 or so years...aswell as spending every single pay check modding and upgrading the thing...you dont want to do anything stupid and lose everything urve worked for

Hmmm there is merrit in what everyone is saying however its a case by case situation. Im 20 and im just about to buy an R33 GTS-T. From my many years of racing experience in Formula 3 not only in Australia but also overseas I have learnt that you must treat speed with the upmost respect. I also was an advanced and high speed driving instructor part time aswell, and being in a car with some of the drivers that instructed was scarey. I just dont think people understand what happens when a car becomes out of control and how little control they have - I know, Ive been there. I have had a few big spins in my Formula 3 and its FARKING scarey and once the car is sideways you are just a passenger.

I think we need to ask ourselves at times, even in a controled enviroment and at a relatively low speed, are we really in 100% control of the car - I dont think so.

I do however feel for the families of the young passengers but I dont feel for the driver of the car.

Same thing happened to me today when I went into the office... people coming up to me, "did you hear about the skyline accident"... I'm like yeah, I knew about it before I got to work.  Just because I drive a skyline doesnt mean I give a shit. It's incidents like this that make owning an import even harder... careless moron fcukwits.

Too true! These tools getting high performance cars (not only Skylines) are giving us the worst rep!!! If you're gonna get one, get some driving experience FIRST!!! Geezus, I feel sorry for these guys parents... but the parents also fund a lot of these guys too so they can buy one! It's an awkward situation. Driving a skyline is a privilage, not something to take for GRANTED!!!

If you train the drivers properly anybody can drive anything safetly at any age, and I'd also argue any speed.

In fact I wish in my younger days, how cool would have proper driving courses been?? Imagine if you were 18 and you got to go on a race track, a skid pan, tested the full limits of your car, learn a few things and it was all subsidised by the government. People would be cueing up to do it. Some other countries do it, why not Australia?

It pays for itself over the years in the amount of lives saved, people hospitalised for life, and everything else. Its so short sighted not to do that. I really don't know what the government is even thinking these days. Its the same everywhere in australia.

The issue isn't the cars, its the knowing how to handle them. Whether its a 50kw mini or a 500kw GTR.

I wonder whether its also to do with the growing culture of what I see these days, people living at home until they are 25, even older, just so they can buy and afford the material things in life such as cars - effectively subsidised by their parents.

im not a big fan of that section of the road especially on the outer most lane goin inbound to the city. theres a number of drainage pot holes that extend from the curb a fair distance just comming out of the tunnel where the road sweeps and if ur driving fast and not ready for them, theyll give u a hell of a scare.

mate i agree with you the goverment and cops are wanting to limit accident and training is the only way to do it.. that AAMI one is all very good but it's all in the dry.. my mate did it and was showing off and i was in the car (only a honda accord) and it was wet had an accident noone was hurt no real damage just a few scratches but training ahs to be in all conditions as well....

Yep, I think advanced driving courses should be compulsary... if you don't pass, you don't get your licence!

The post from the news site doesn't seem to mention "high performance" nissan import or high powerered vehicle, usually when the media find these types of fatalities they blab all over the place its a high powered nissan import thats bad!!! but this one doesn't mention it at all. sounds like it could have been an n/a

i mean it still is possible to have any car go out of control regadless of model/make etc, if your at 100km/h with 4 people in the car you have a lot of weight to counteract and balance, if hes an inexperienced p-plater then its obviously a lot worse compared to a driver with experience. it may have just been a fact the honda was driving and the nissan gts (if of course it is a gts) was trying to keep up or pass him and something went wrong. theres no evidence i can see of drag racing, of course im not a police officer so yeah

It doesn't matter about engine capacity, how many turbos, the power it makes, you can do dangerous things in any damn car.

I know. When I first got my P's I span out a Honda Civic at 1*0(really fast)km/h.... Across 2 lanes, median strip, and stopped in the dirt on the other side of the road. Luckily I was on my own, and it was in the middle of the night. No damage to me, no real damage to the car, just scared the crap out of myself.

When I was 18 I was invincable, nothing could harm me...

Since then, I've "grown up", learnt to drive well, done an advanced driving course and I take my urges for speed to the track. And besides, I can't afford the speeding tickets.

The dead man (1 person) was a back-seat passenger in the Skyline. (1 driver)

Another person in the back seat was critically injured (1 person), and two other (2 people) men in the Skyline were hurt. They were taken to The Alfred hospital.

sounds like a 4 door, 5 passenegers, r32 and r33 only have 4 seat belts

For a Probationary driver 125 kw per tonne is the limit - that is 125 kw at the engine NOT wheels!

A 125 kw engine would be lucky to see 100 kw at the rear wheels.

I believe a manual r33 gtst 2 door is over the limit in STOCK form.

Calc: 187kw engine stock, 1380 kgs = 135.5 kw per tonne
