Accident with bus - Sunday 3rd October, Surfers Paradise (cnr Gold Coat H'way, Hamilton St.) near Q1.

Car caught fire on impact and my left foot was broken and trapped by the "HANDBRAKE" wrapping around it. Fire crews had to bend it out with rope to release my leg which is broken at the shin and 2 deep 15 and 20 cm lacerations with small bone protruding.

Mad Wagon, Thats some real bad news man

My car just got regoed today.

What is the damage like on your car? I hope that its not too bad so we can still go cruising. Just got back from the springbrook mountains where i was eating up 180SX's and S13 Silvias, they were looking at me like 'What the' As my friends hung out of the rear sunroof waving at them..

Crazy evening

Get better soon MW

That's a shocking story mate. Just goes to show how easy it can happen. I'm driving up to pick my car up today (finally). I'll have your crash in the back of my head. I think I speak on behalf of all the SAU members when I wish you all the best with your recoveryand the repairs to your car. Keep your head up mate.

dont over do it the worst thing that you can do is to cause permanent damage to your leg. I hope that the car isnt too badly damaged.

we all wish you the best for a speedy recovery hope you first and foremost are ok and that you and your car are back on the road asap.

Very sorry to hear that mad. I am glad you were able to post up the story instead of us reading about you in the paper. Take it easy and get well soon. Condolences for your car - but there are always more.

Peace

Ken

Ouch!

Dude, as long as you're alive and not too badly hurt, that's the main thing! A broken leg (although painful and annoying) is probably a lucky break considering the damage done to the car. Jeez, you can't even recognise what it is from the front!

Cars can be repaired or replaced, so that's the least of your worries for now. A damned shame after the car was taking shape quite nicely too!

Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery. :)

    • Impossible to remove the housing while turbo is installed on the manifold on the engine. So I have to do it anyways. I plugged it so there will not be any debris in there. Will vacuum aswell
    • would a r34 gtr hood line up with gt/gtt stock fenders? after latch, front bumper and hinges are swapped for gtr ones? or would the fenders be too low or high in relation to the hood surface? ( I believe seeing somewhere that gtr front fenders use some type of riser for the sides, but do not know how that relates to stock gt/gtt fenders.)
    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
