yeah it was a " high powered nissan skyline " racing a civic...

go to the vic forums.. they have more info

apparantely 2 backseat passengers died from the skyline... big blitz fmic on the car too

here's the link .. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=52708

not good for the driver, no way of getting out of jail for killing 2 passengers thats for sure, and aslo for racing he'll be lucky to get out of jail in the next 20 years or so. people have been drag racing for ever theres no way to police it, but hopefuly other people iell learn from this guys mistake.

what are people's thoughts on the solution to this epidemic?

curfews?

better licensing systems?

stricter penalties?

heavier fines?

regulate car manufacturers power levels?

better signage on the roads?

i personally like how they license motorbike riders and the victorian system, ie power to weight ratio to age?

defensive driver course for all learners, hammer the facts and make sure that the real risks are identified and illustrated..

i went to one a while back with a group of other people my age (p platers)most of them had ordinary sedans/hatches and were not hoons, and afterwards they had a lot better idea of what happens when u lose control by trying it in the controlled environment they gave us..

better than trying it on the road when it happens!

Education and changing peoples' attitudes is the only way to effectivley change things. You have to change the way people think so they don't do these crazy things in the first place.

It's damn hard to change the way someone thinks when they don't want to however.

Like the old Tim and Debby joke:

"How many social workers does it take to change a light globe?"

"Only one but the light globe has to want to change."

:(

This may sound a little left of field, but i think its perhaps up to banks and insurance companies to play bigger parts.

Make it far harder for ppl under the age of 21 or less then 3 years driving experience on their full licence to get a loan for an import or performance car. If the car is under finance then premiums should hit a little harder. I know this wotn be popular ...but hey:(

Now i know this isnt really fair, but as Red said attitude plays a huge part. And part of the attitude is maturity and having worked and saved for several years helps the maturing process and i believe makes ppl appreciate their cars a lot more.

At 18-19 if you can get a loan for 30k, buy a 20k R33 get it insured and mod it...then its all too easy and soem dont appreciate it.

Not saying thats the answer...but i think its something that can be considered. Driver training is great, but some leave these days feelign as though they now have the skills ot control a car but their pi55 poor attitude remains.

I think the government should buy my mate an endless supply of crap cars and he should go and prang them with passengers. His rollover with me in the car sure as sh1t confirmed that at best spirited driving is all you can get away with on the street.

Oh and make drags and other forms of motorpsort more accessible/cheaper. PPl simply dont realise how easy it is to get out and do it on the track...and unlike franks i have even les interest in going quick after a track day fix:)

hey im 18 and i drive a modded r33. i say that advanced driving courses would be the best, it teaches alot of the stuff that you need to know, but it still will not stop people from speeding.i am against the power to weight ratio because alot of people driving high performance cars on there p's ave not done anything wrong. it is the small amount of people that stuff it up for everyone else and give us a bad name.

    • Hey guys. I have a 400R on its way to Australia from Japan currently and have a few questions I’m hoping others may be able to help with.   Wondering if anyone here has had any luck getting the Sat nav unit to work in Australia!? Assuming the Stereo is as simple as a band expanded and tv won’t work?  Seeing as they’re based off a Q50 which is Aus delivered is there any way to link that system to the nav? Nav modules and head unit are different part numbers and appear slightly different at the rear with plug ins etc. can I put my xtrail sd card into the rv37 and will that convert the maps or update to Australian? Has anyone got any advice here?     also has anyone fitted the factory remote start and Security system once it’s landed in Australia? I put an enquirey to Nissan Japan in via a third party, and they suggested it needs a Nissan Japan dealers device to setup and couldn’t guarantee if one here could do it or not. They can supply and I can physically fit it but to setup I would need a dealers device. Any information here would be appreciated also. I’ve seen one here with it fitted already prior to leaving Japan at a dealer/inporter, so clearly passes compliance and works when fitted Japan and doesn’t need changing here.      also, does the tyre inflation sensors work here? Does anything change with them when the vehicle arrives? Where are they actually situated? I’ve read they have batteries and they need to changing at times and seems like resetting involves the nav system?    any help here would be appreciated and any other aust specific information to help would be great. Looking forward to see what the current generation skyline is like and eager to see how many of the gadgets can be utilised here.  Thanks in advance
    • Do need to take it with a pinch of salt. One of the adapter failures, they clearly had setup issues with the flywheel.  One of the slipping ones I spoke to and it was pretty clear the throwout was riding, rather than fix, just swapped to a new clutch.    These clutches are being put in anything from 5k offroad 4x4 beaters, GR yaris, 500hp commodores to 1200hp barra monsters. Bound to be some issues in some of them when they are not a simple bolt in affair due to the changes in height.    There is a lot going on in this picture and unless I did the job myself no way to tell what really happened.
    • I did this mod in 2019  You just have to modify the top bracket of the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU so it sits more upright and closer to the back seat and run a good quality positive battery lead from the engine bay, the negative lead i just bolted down to the body in the boot.
    • Damn... Not the feedback I want to hear.
