Engine Ticking Noise (lifters???)

I don't think it is a good idea if at all possible. Plus the RB25 head flows more hp anyway.

better porting as the 25 is newer technology. The 26 is still based on the original 32 version.

Just to clear something up. Lifters don't tap. The rockers do....

Mate, DOHC rb motors dont have rockers... they have hydrualic cam followers, hence there is no need for a rocker

edit: or in the case of 26's they have shim bucket cam followers

I get the same noise...

Its sounds like the blinkers are on but its a little bit faster than the blinker noise... It annoyed the sheet out of me as well... I found if you use your blinker lift it up oh so slightly so you hear a little "click" but it doesnt engage your blinkers it will stop the retchard noise!

Anyone else had the problem with an r33?

I know this is an old thread but ever since i ran injector cleaner through my car i have been getting the ticking noise. So could some1 explain exactly what "lifters" are, why its ticking and what i can do to fix it ??

If i take it to a workshop to fix it how much would it cost you rekon ??

maybe i am, its just i don't always remember hearing the noise. I thought injector ticking would be too quiet to hear over engine idle revving...

Im almost definate it would be the injectors. Best way to tell is by getting a large screwdriver, put the screwdriver on each injector and put your ear up to the end of the screwdriver. If you hear a distinctive injector noise in time with the ticking noise of the engine it will be the injectors. Do that and tell us what happens. In order to fix it don't use that injector cleanser crap that you put in your fuel tank because it does next to nothing. The only proper way to get injectors cleaned is to get the injectors physically removed and cleaned by a rail clean machine, does the job and guarentees success.

I thought it was normal for injectors to tick like that, did not realise you could fix it??
