http://www.brant.com.au/

I'm looking for the same thing.

I had Brant in my R33 and it was not great - definately not worth the 800 or so they want for the base model. It really is just a run-of-the-mill alarm and the remotes are ugly.

I have been calling around to find alarms worth using, so far I have the following on the list:

- Black Widow BW10000-3 with a few optional bits

- Mongoose M80G

Let me know what you decide mate. and I'd love to take a look at it once installed too, cause I'll be wanting something pretty special for the GTR too

Got a flashpoint in my GTI-R at the moment. I'd have to say it's pretty good with security feautres but lacks some of the wanky gismos (which I'd love to have :P) It has all black wiring, 3 point immobilisation, shock sensor, twin infra red motion detectors, backup battery and is 'insurance approved'. Bought from and installed by Lifestyle at Parramatta.

I'm only using the alarm for insurance purposes. The real security will be in the combination of alarm, tracker and the physical security where the car is garaged.

I really dont want any of those two way pager alarms - they are useless and i am not into carrying any extra doo-dads around.

I have prices on those two alarms installed now:

- Mongoose M80G is $549 installed at Lifestyle Store Paramatta

- BlackWidow BW10000-3 is $510 installed onsite

Does flashpoint have a battery backup and internal siren?

Does flashpoint have a battery backup and internal siren?

Yep, sure does. It's supposed to be very good. Same here with the insurance thing... But I would like the auto window up (i think it may have been an option on the Flashpoint) and turbo timer compatibility is a must. My flash point had this.. I could leave it on running on the timer and arm the alarm, once the car switched off the immobiliser would auto arm (passive arming) and of course the alarm was already operational. Only troulbe is that turbo timer died, and I replaced it with an HKS one and now I can't arm the alarm with the car running on the timer :P .

Lifestyle are ok. I wouldn't say their install was exceptional (personally think they could have place the unit better) but it was fairly priced and I haven't had any problems with it. The also set up the shock sensor nicely. No exhausts set it off, but if I slap the windscreen or window, it goes off. Movement detectors are great too, but if there is a bee trapped in your car when you arm the alarm and it decides to fly around it will set it off. Only happend once in 2 years though... I don't know if lifestyle still sell flashpoint, maybe ask them and see.

Richard

oh the flashpoint has very nice remotes too :P once of the best I've seen. you're welcome to come check it out (and the install quality too) if you are over my way.

Richard

if you want a flashhpoint alarm.. you can go to jb-hifi in parra and they have another guy at da back of the shop who has a workshop who installs flashpoint alarms..for about 700 i think... but if you want the window lifter/boot opener/turbo timer and other options.. they can do it but you will have to pay for the modules that are about 80 each.. so ie. 2 window lifters = $180 plus alarm...

Incar Option in wetherill park is good too.

Speak to Sin, 9609 1122, tell him Wil with the white r33 told you about them. He should do you a good price.

They are the distributors of the Boomerang car alarms too. They have other alarms available as well. So basically figure out what you want and ask.

I've found Sin to be really good. He's installed alarms in 3 of our cars now.

I've been looking at that flashpoint - seems it retails for about $590 or so installed but doesn't really have any major benefits over the BW10000-3 which is cheaper.

The problem with automatic window winders is that all alarm retailers charge a load of money for them. Black Widow quoted me $200 for 2 windows.

I built a circuit from parts I found at Dick Smith for $14 that will do the same thing. Keep in mind Dick smith retail prices are high already.

In that case go with the one with the nicest remotes ;)

You'll have to show me how to make one of your patented window winder circuits

Richard

ahha i know Sin.. he did my car.. and i found him to be very good aswell...

do you kno Ken... the owner??

Yeah man I know Ken , and their mechanics too. I have my car serviced there every 10,000kms (need to for warranty).

I have everything done there. Everything that doesn't get done at UAS that is.
