Are there any benefits in cleaning your air flow meter ?? if so, then how do i go about cleaning it ?

If you are getting flat spots then I would try cleaning it to solve. But otherwise I would leave it. Basically, dont fix it if it aint broke I hear that you can get contact cleaner from Dick Smith and alike to do the job...

AFMs are 'self cleaning' and as such should be pretty much maintenance free. But if you have a problem, or can see excessive build up on it by all means give it a CAREFULL clean.

it's not hard to do so why not?

next time you service your car, pull it off and spray some CO Contact Cleaner onto it and let it dry.

Because plenty of people have stuffed things up fixing things that aint broke. A MAF meter is a fairly delicate piece of gear, it doesn't take much to screw up the element. My advice is still (as posted above) if there is no problem with how the car runs, and no visible crap on the wire, leave it be

If not, try toshis method.

The problem is that the AFM is not used to having a oiled filter on the end of it. I have done it heaps of times and never had a problem. Just dont go stupid with it.

iv heard CRC contact cleaner is good , if your going to try a clean.

haha yeah thanks for the offer tosh...but i should be able to manage !!! hahah you guys are dirty...were talking about AFMs here dont change the subject.

the reason why i ask is that im getting a MASSIVE flat spot above 5000rpm.....
