GUys, it's ok Grid.co.jp

everything is on there.

Having a look around that site, the closest I can find is at http://www.grid.co.jp/list/44_03.html, possibly TU11611 - my japanese isn't good enough to know... Do you have the exact part number, and do you kown if it is available in English, or only japanese???

Ian

Sorry, I got confused with all the stuff in this post! Could you post both the link to the grid rom board, and the link to the rom data spec on the grid home page ie http://www.grid.co.jp/en/index.htm???

Ian

Hey Dr Drift

Thanks, but Ian is most in need of a similar direct link to the MAP (rom data spec)which Ed said was on the grid site?

:/

Alrighty due to V35 plans... I am out of this groupbuy thanks Ian/Ed/whoever... not that it seems like it will eventuate anyhoo... but good luck hope you get the buy happening someday.

:)

No probs, took you out of http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...660#post1324660

Though at the rate this is happening - no one will tell me where to get the ROM map from, which makes me wonder! - you'll be driving a R36 before much gets done..

Why are you getting rid of the stagea? I'm think of getting a series 2 (you're too far away, and the wife wouldn't like yellow...) and am interested in coments..

I'm assuming, but haven't been able to confirm, that the series 2 is entirely based on the r34 GTT ie brakes etc etc (as well as the neo engine which I know it has).. ??

Ian

Most of the specs are GTT stuff... engine, intercooler, brakes, tiptronic/manual... etc etc. Youve probably seen most of the stuff in the Stagea section... and posted my reason for selling there too - basically realised I had the 'project car' the wrong way around - the missus would end up driving 230rwkw in school zones, and Id be taking the highways to work in a bomb... so flipping to a V35 for me and a basic wagon for her... so nothing to do with Stagea itself - its awesome! But has to go to pay for the V35 :)

Only found that other stuff after I had posted above :-) Is it the R34 GTT stuff (I know the engine is) or the R33 stuff?? Particuarly the brakes - as other posts have complained that they aren't as good (that series one has worse brakes than the R33 GTT) - did they change that in series 2 ie put the full r34 GTT brakes and SUPER hicas on? Does it have the R34 GTT intercooler or the R33 GTT one?

Intercooler is R34, other stuff I am pretty sure but not certain on but 'think' it was upgraded to R34 specs (brakes, anything in the engine bay, transmission, etc). I also think the suspension was upgraded from Series 1 to Series 2 - feels firmer (but still different to R34 GTT).

this daughter board sounds like a good idea i have an r34 gtt auto seeing as it still is basically the standard ecu but programmable it will work with the auto transmission.

i am in adelaide does any one here know how to tune it ??? if so i will be interested in this group buy aswell

how much roughly though??

  • 3 weeks later...

do you want to try the ADR file i put together for Ed? I was waiting for the ECU to be sent over to install his board

its sitting at home on my PC not doing anything. you just dont have K constant or the limiters ... thats all

ian - If your prepared to be the guniee pig, I have a spare grid board here, a consult to extract the standard binary from your car, and using darkhalf's incomplete address file should at least be able to tune the fuel & ignition curves.... a positive result would surely move this along??

Darkhalf - Mind if I grab the adr of you?

Sam.

Yep - I'll PM an email address to you.

Ian

... just after I've bought the jaycar fuel controller.. :-)

I've already dumped the cars binary to have a look through it :-).

Yep, I wouldn't mind being the person to try it out (assuming the address map makes sense for my car - as soon as I get it I'll compare it to my binary), I'll give you a ring once I've got it and checked.

(my car is a R34 GTX turbo)

Ian

Look forward to it Ian, and it's appreciated. I have several other customers waiting on results...

Sam.

It's the obvouos way to go, as then you can change the values you want, or put it back to stock standard...

I'll ring later today, don't think you'd like me doing it at now (12.20am.. :-)

    • Also had a look at the Nissan JP website looks like the 400r has a slightly shorter ratio than than the regular V37 3.133 VS 2.937 which from a guy who has driven both 3.69 vs 4.11 ratios in the S15 is bugger all. Seems that the AUTO Z runs the same ratio as the 400R but can't find any info as to if its an open or LSD? More often than not the auto LSD is open
    • Do not replace the power steering lines with this stuff. If it's anything like the Chase Bays stuff it will leak and be worse than stock. The reason why the reservoir is on the LH/passenger side of the car is because that's just where the reservoir was most convenient to fit. Don't overthink this stuff. The intake/cold side of the engine is pretty busy on these cars. And again, the hardpipe is designed to be a janky power steering cooler. In theory you can replace it with a real power steering cooler but that's really only for track use where boiling the fluid is a distinct possibility. Start with the low pressure lines feeding the pump from the reservoir. Make sure there isn't a bunch of junk in the reservoir filter. Be careful to not get ATF all over the engine bay. I hate dealing with ATF spills, you can clean it up and the slightest crevice will still release more oil that can still drip over time. You also want to inspect for leaks before you make a mess and can't tell what happened. Most likely you have a leak somewhere that is allowing fluid out and air in. Failing that it's allowing air in but not fluid out. Only place I can really see that happening is on the low pressure side because the pump will pull a slight vacuum to draw fluid in. Everything after the pump is high pressure or lower pressure, approaching atmospheric by the time it returns to the reservoir.
    • I did a skidpan night at SMSP this week, it was much cheaper than $350. But yeah, you need to slap an LSD in that thing.  I put an OS Giken in the 370Z and it's f**king MARVELOUS even compared to Nissan's viscous LSD. So you're saying it's free now that it's a housing estate? 😂
    • Nah, the car seems to run exactly as it did prior, in saying this it does "seem" to be better down low, like more eager to rev, but that may be 100% placebo effect from intake noise But, I'm not worried about it at all, in the end it is a fairly low compression NA engine that has a well shrouded intake,  if it is getting hotter IAT I cannot notice anything negative performance wise from the seat of my pants thrashing it about on the street or sitting in traffic, so meh, car now now makes induction noise so I'm happy
    • Do you have an IAT sensor? It's worth checking it to see. You may be suprised how little gap you actually need to flood your engine with hot air. (I tape up my airbox for a reason) :p
