After reading 1,999 turbo threads and trying to understand flow maps ect i still dont understant turbos very well.

Will a to4E V-trim wheel fit the following turbo as a replacement for yhe 57Trim comp wheel and what would the results be with an RB20. as i already have this turbo and this wheel thats why i am asking.

I am sorry if this is a stupid question i just want better boost response than 4000+ rpm...

This could work ok if the turbine housing is the Ford style Garrett one . These were designed for turbines with 65mm O/D unlike the Nissan/Garrett type which suited 59mm OD turbines . Everyone likes to reprofile the latter for the TA34 turbines (like yours) and screws up the nossle section of the housing . Turbine efficiency goes out the door and we wind up with a laggy dog .

Garrett do their own TBO3/TO4E hybrids (T31 and TA34's) which do work , the aftermarket sucks everyone in with their bastard creations which rarely do . Note Garrett uses small trim TO4E wheels to keep the workload down on the turbine to maintain some efficiency .

Remember the golden rule , get the turbine side right FIRST . Its the thing that DRIVES the compressor so if its bodged nothing you can do with the compressor side will fix it .

Cheers A .

I forgot to add that the "V" trim is a TO4B wheel ie 2.75" by 2.180" (63 trim) and 8 bladed . Turbonetics list a Super V trim but never seen one . The 6 bladed compressors are the pick of the TO4B's ie the H trim at 2.75" by 2.298" (70 trim) . From memory there was one of similar dimensions to the V trim as well .

Cheers A .

    • Welllll..... some of the Preludes, particularly this one Sort of kinda mimicked the long-nose-short-deck-Mustang/Skyline profile anyway. That one ^ kinda like R34. The other more curvy Prelude kinda like the R33. Integras had a little of that going on also. So, it's not totally surprising to me that their designers have gravitated to a similar profile to more "modern" (ha! 20 year old!!) Nissan coupes. Of course, they could have just stolen the V/Z platform anyway, per your suggestion. I am, otherwise, similarly unimpressed. Those venty things at the bottom of the front guard/door reek of Tiburon, which is not a place any designer would want to be.

I’ve been photographing cars for more than 10 years, working with private owners, collectors, dealerships, and brands. You can check out my work here: carphotographers.com.au Would definitely recommend finding someone local in Melbourne who understands how to shoot Skylines properly — the angles and light really make a difference. If you ever drive up this way, happy to shoot it for you.
    • Looks like the brief relationship between Honda and Nissan resulted in Honda stealing the Z profile designs.  I'm not a fan at all. 👎🏻   https://www.autoblog.com/news/seeing-the-new-honda-prelude-up-close-reveals-its-retro-magic
